New Zealand doesn't have any other pro-quality players, so not like they were going anywhere anyways.
what a team player...
wish more Spurs would be like him tbh
Steven Adams has confirmed that he has chosen not to represent his native New Zealand at this summers FIBA basketball World Cup.
Speaking to the media at the close of his rookie season in the NBA, the combative Adams revealed that he plans to concentrate on his Oklahoma City Thunder career in the coming months.
In a move that will not come as a major shock to fans of Kiwi basketball Adams confirmed that he will take part in the NBA summer league rather than travelling to Spain with his national team.
The 20 year old gave fairly short shrift to the idea of representing New Zealand, answering with a definitive "no" when asked if he would be part of the World Cup team.
After a fairly impressive debut season in the NBA, in which he was given more responsibility as the season progressed and showed signs of his effective, physical skill set on both sides of the ball, the Thunder player seems content to push on and build over the next few months in the United States ahead of next season.
Adams and the Thunder will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing end to their 2013-14 campaign which saw OKC fall one step short of the NBA Finals after losing 4-2 to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals playoff series.
Do not fear New Zealanders, the player hasn't turned his back on his home country. In his interview Adams talked enthusiastically about the crazy support he gets back home, whilst giving a nod to the countries superior weather compared to Oklahoma.
future GOAT imo
New Zealand doesn't have any other pro-quality players, so not like they were going anywhere anyways.
Wrong Forum, this is SPURS TALK not OKC TALK.
same goes for the team where the ingrate plays tbh
Right?! Who gives a about okc or adams, especially in the SPURS forum? Go downstairs!
Adams is also terrible.
Spurs related?![]()
Not surprised for a guy that looks up to Durbeta, tbh...
Remember when OP thought Adams was going to be OKC's secret weapon? Good times![]()
Well, Future HOF did get a nice tattoo on his arm.
he's still is tbh. That's why OKC doesn't even want him to sniff ty WC
on the other hand the TOSB drama queen might as well play since his role next season will be minimal![]()
yeah, I don't get the madness over Gino since apparently he had nothing to do with getting #5...
Adams is a scrub... these are the things we know...
ElNono has been working overtime here lately. Sometimes bunkering in and working a defensive strategy...and other times going on the offensive. We've also seen him bring the nonchalant goods as well as the subtle goods.
I'm mulling doing the opening game thread for the new season, after closing out the last one, tbh... we'll see...
Straw man.
Manu should learn from future HOF Steven Adams and stop being so selfish.
This is truly great for his development
It's called sarcasm, tbh
Can somebody remember me the year that Manu was an all-star, won the championship with the Spurs and almost wins FMVP, which year was that? Can you also recall if he played International ball previous to that season, heck does anyone know if Duncan played International ball that summer previous to the Spurs winning the whole ing thing? I just can't remember.
I know. But, about 200 people on here won't. We don't need a flashmob of Manu s in here.
did he also have a broken leg?
also lol at the idea that Steven Adams will ever be more than a scrub. If he played anywhere other than OKC nobody woukd know uis name.
at the Steven Adams hate
he was a ROOKIE and singlehandely won the OKC vs Grizzlies series by having Zbo getting thrown out
He also made the Ginger got his personal to close out CPChoke(remember Ibaka went out injured and Trashkins was putting up the worst NBA playoff performance ever)
he has already had a better career than both Greg Oden and Kwame Brown combined (2 overall #1 picks)![]()

He keeping his options open to play for the Boomers one day.
lol there is a higher chance that Adams plays for TeamUSA than for the Aussies tbh
Senor that was ten years ago! Manu is a s of that player in regards to staying healthy.
Getting tired of the Argentines complaining about this issue tbh.
Maybe if Arg convince their best athletes like Naymar and Ronaldo to give up soccer for bball they wouldn't have to rely so heavily on older players.
