    How Prayer Works

For believers, it is obvious why so many prayers are answered. In the Bible, Jesus promises many times that he will answer our prayers. For example, in Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Ask and you will receive. What could be simpler than that?
In Matthew 17:20 Jesus reiterates that same message:

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mus seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
Since a mus seed is a tiny inanimate object about the size of a grain of salt, it is easy to imagine that the faith of a mus seed is fairly small. So, paraphrasing, what Jesus is saying is that if you have the tiniest bit of faith, you can move mountains.

Jesus says something similar in Matthew 21:21:

I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
The message is reiterated Mark 11:24:

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says it again:

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
    Seems pretty unambiguous.

    Prayers will be answered.

    Unless, of course, they aren't.

I get it already. You have made up your mind to ignore how evil God is, and that I am an idiot for pointing out the obvious to you.

    Sheesh. I have moved on.

No you haven't. Which is why you're still crying and getting your ass handed to you. You have provided nothing of significance.

Eh, RG is just an ignorant piece of crap, his questions have been answered. I already explained that those were different times and people had different views and ways of life. He can keep spinning however he likes but all that does in confirm that he has never actually read the Bible in the way it is supposed to be read.
I know you have some differences of opinion with RG, But I like the guy even though he and I differ on a few things too, he is cool, and I can honestly say he does try to be open minded. He has an excellent lay mans grasp of a lot of things, religion and Christianity being a couple, just as you do, and you both try to throw in humor whenever you both can.

Just as you lean a little more toward one side of the issue, he seems to lean a little more toward the other.

And he seems to like "playing the devils' advocate" a lot.

I think he has mentioned before that his wife is employed in the biological science field and yet has no problems balancing that with being a Christian herself and defending her Christianity, plus he is a Christian too if I am not mistaken.

So things are all relative, one mans' poison, is another mans' pie.

14 Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but he does not have works?+ That faith cannot save him, can it?+15 If a brother or a sister is lacking clothing* and enough food for the day,16 yet one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but you do not give them what they need for their body, of what benefit is it?+17 So, too, faith by itself, without works, is dead.+
16 Now look! someone came up to him and said: “Teacher, what good must I do to gain everlasting life?”+17 He said to him: “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good.+ If, though, you want to enter into life, observe the commandments continually.”+18 He said to him: “Which ones?” Jesus said: “You must not murder,+ you must not commit adultery,+ you must not steal,+ you must not bear false witness,+19 honor your father and your mother,+ and you must love your neighbor as yourself.”+20
    Sure, if you say so.

I can get to the point:

Bible says God will answer prayers, pretty much without fail. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Prayers aren't answered. Not even close.

Every time a Christian says, "The Lord answered my prayer," what we are seeing instead is a simple coincidence or the natural effects of self-talk. Christians never discuss failed prayers, but if we look at all the prayers that fail as well as the prayers that work, a statistical analysis proves that God does not answer prayers.

Not really, RG is obviously an idiot who doesn't understand even the simplist things in the Bible. All of his questions are there answered in the Bible. He is copying and pasting from a website called evilbible.com. I mean really? That's really thinking for oneself isn't it?

    A) God answers prayers.

    B) An amputee prays for regenerated limbs.

    C) Therefore God does not answer prayers.

    Whut?

Do you even see the words coming out of your mind?

Failed prayer? You mean when people ask for things that they know are impossible? (as of now) Why won't God make my leg grow back? Really?

That is not how prayer works. If you actually opened a Bible you would know what prayer is for and what you can and can not ask for.

Tell me what prayer is for then.

Enlighten me, but try not to use the passages I have already shown that I have read.

Surely I am missing something about God not wanting to answer the prayers of amputees.
