2011 Manu was the only one that was actually running the offense full time

Parker's performance in regular season and playoffs was far more dominating. It's not even close.

TP had one year where he got MVP votes. Ginobili had 3... all coming off the bench.

Man back in '05, Manu could simply take over a game.

His raw agility jumping speed quickness and offensive creativity plus defensive instincts and playmaking.. plus his passion and hunger

He was like a lightweight Pacquiao

I remember thinking to myself, Manu is playing like he is 2 seconds ahead of everyone.

We don't win game 7 against the Pistons without Manu being stupendous, they didn't have anyone to negate him.

Parker was tearing it up in 2013, I remember he strung a bunch of 30 point games together or high assist with low to and efficient scoring, plus just learning how to exert his will

But I recall Manu that year dropping several amazing and sublime games, where he was the best man on the floor.. the way he played... and had 3 Finals games where he was critical to the win, ala Kawhi this year.

I think Manu reached a higher level of game in '05 than Parker '13,
but Parker still can get more cerebral with his game... I think he has another zenith in his future, when a man reaches his mental physical spiritual mixture of peak levels..

He's been playing long enough, where he understands the game intimately, the inner form of it... he's had brilliant mentors and coaches, all time-greats as teammates, Parker started so young that all those parts of him are still coming to be, he's still not fully bloomed yet.

    Wait...What?

The gap in raw stats is due to minutes. Parker played 5 more minutes per game.

The advanced stats are actually pretty similar.

Parker had a better regular season. Ginobili had a better post season run.
And '05 Spurs were the slow defensive minded Spurs, '13 Spurs were a an offensive minded fast paced team.

He had a game at Brooklyn were he single-handle torched the Nets with 29 points 11 assists 0 turnovers. I think he also had a 31 point 7 assist game at LAC in a blowout win.

He was lights out that year, not to mention torching Memphis for 18 assists in Game 1 and 37 points in game 2 of the WCF

Manu was ballin' in 05. Dude took over in the Seattle series (It was G5 i believe after the Sonics tied the series). That series should've gone 7 had it not been for Manu & Tim. Tim dominated in the WCF though.

I'd still take Manu 05 over Parker 13 tbh. Don't forget how the Spurs struggled on offense during that time.

In 07/08 Manu had back to back 37 point games then went on a streak and scored 34,46,18,44 and 30. Manu was insane that year.

Parker's performances in 2012/13 ultimately didn't count for anything, whereas Ginobili's play in the 2005 Finals essentially won us the Championship. Thus, I'd say Ginobili by a considerable distance.

Ginobili could keep it up un the Playoffs in 2005, Parker couldn´t do it in 2013.

in 2005 Tim was in his prime, Tim won us the championship.

I'd take Manu 05 too btw but @ considerable distance

That was a really, really close series. Without Manu's standout performances, I'm not sure even Tim's efforts could've got us that Championship. And that's not a knock on TD, by any means.

2013 Parker did it being the #1 option, and put the Spurs up 5 with 28 seconds until some bald guy ed everything up.

05 Manu did it being a role player off the bench and being the 3rd option.

That's fair... and I remember the sickening belief I had Manu threw game 6 for whatever reason, with his 8 heinous turnovers at the worst times to happen.

But Also in 05... Manu by just how the series unfolded... Became the 2nd and sometimes first Option, While Duncan did his Best against the Wallaces, and Tony Parker was struggling as per par back then...

I taped every game of that series... and in GAME 7 (I was freaking out Spurs always won in 6 lol) in 3rd quarter with the game at like 61-57 Spurs, closely contested, that's when Manu went to work and took it home for us.

Bad argument for Manu, not even close. Now you have to say MVP votes is a joke since it favors TP

    MVP Award Shares

    Tony :
    2005-06 NBA 0.007 (9)
    2006-07 NBA 0.001 (15)
    2008-09 NBA 0.007 (8)
    2010-11 NBA 0.002 (12)
    2011-12 NBA 0.274 (5)
    2012-13 NBA 0.071 (6)
    2013-14 NBA 0.017 (12)
    Career 0.379 (59)

    Manu :
    2007-08 NBA 0.007 (10)
    2009-10 NBA 0.002 (11)
    2010-11 NBA 0.017 (8)

Tony sh!ts on Manu on volume stats (Total, per game), MVP votes (see above), all-star (6 to 2), all-nba (3 2nd team and 1 3rd team to 2 3rd team)
Manu sh!ts on Tony on per 36 min, advanced, shooting and defensive stats

Depends on what you need. A consitent first option or an efficient closer / spark
Good things for the spurs is that they work great together

Not quite sure I'd agree tbh. Manu could've easily been MVP of that series (and probably should've been, in my view).

Just curious, but who is the "consistent first option" in this argument?..
