nope because strong ankles are actually crucial to jumping high, i've sprained my ankle once playing basketball from grade school up until college and i could throw it down with 2 hands at 5'11
Hence why I've been doing ankle strengthening and not skipping leg day. I'm ing careful about the shoes I buy regardless of if they're to hoop in or not, and I haven't sprained my ankle in 3-4 years now.

dude, I've sprained my right ankle 3 times and my left twice. You don't have to be heavy to come down on someone's foot and pop it out. The curse of having decent hops and somewhat weak ankles.
Sprained and snapped are two completely different things. We've all had sprained ankles.

And you wonder why your feet itch.
D, I fish towels off the highway. I have a closet full of oddball towels. They have character. I snag 'em with a stick. Bring them home and wash them in Tide with color fast bleach. Girl won't touch them even after all that, though I won't dry with one of her thick plush towels. You cant get into those nooks and cranny with the damn thing. And daddy-O, at 61 I'm chock full of nooks & crannys.

This isn't a 3rd world country, there's no need for a solvent human to salvage rags off the street.

I landed on a support one night (those sand bases for home hoops). My ankle popped 8 ing times. Not sure if you count that as snapped but it was the size of a grapefruit and I could walk for ~3 weeks on it. Still makes me grit my teeth thinking about it.

Shoes won't stop that. You'd have to have a moon boot.

True, but it made my ankle weak enough afterward that I definitely wanted some shoes that fit right. It would pop out at nothing afterward. Should have had surgery in retrospect.

Sometimes they can actually restrict ankle movement in a bad way.

You are getting much better ankle support in a low cut Kobe than you are in a high cut Jordan V, for example.

Not sure, but it might be. They're already up on Ebay for $285...crazy.

I wear size 13, so I have to be Johnny on the spot when the drop date comes, or I'll likely miss out.
