I know they weren't, and that is precisely why I mentioned them, in order to attempt to put things in proper perspective.
Science or the Press weren't mentioned in the discussion
I know they weren't, and that is precisely why I mentioned them, in order to attempt to put things in proper perspective.
They're irrelevant in the discussion I'm having with snakeboy
You're not having a discussion with me, you're just pretending.
Why do you exist?
I got you, my bad.
I just thought it was relevant to the discussion is all, the only reason I brought it up.
Blake is pretending the question why doesn't exist. He doesn't get that no matter what his answer is it will only reveal that he has asked himself that question. Thus proving that the question exists.
"there is no purpose for our existence."
You're pretending my answer doesn't exist.
We're all born atheists.
It's perfectly reasonable to assume that in a vacuum, a person who has never thought about creation might only ask "how", never bothering to ask "why"
Well, partly, except for the last part, that was what I thought as well, and what promted me to make the comment that I did.
You understood why I said what I said, didn't you?
Was it relevant to you, or not? I won't be offended by your or his answer, and I meant no offense or contentiousness by the comment.
I have no emotional investment in it either way.
I mean no disrespect to either of you, and have no intention for answering your question for him when I say that your contention is reasonable.
But in order to fully understand something, I think it is also reasonable to also ask "why", as well as "when", "what", and "where" in order for a more thorough understanding of anything and of any subject, event, or action IMHO.
That is your opinion and a wrong one. If you had any knowledge of the Bible you would know that your statement is inaccurate and a lie. You do not understand anything about the Bible.
How do you know it is omnipotent?
I have no idea what "God" is or isn't, or wants or doesn't want. *IF* it existed, *AND* it wanted to get me to believe in it, surely it would know how.
Unfortunately, since it has not, it has made itself indistinguishable from something that doesn't exist, since something that does not exist has no more way of communicating with me than pink unicorns do.
FWIW, omnipotence is logically impossible. Even were a God to exist, it would not be omnipotent. You should catch up on modern theology, as most serious theologians have retreated from this assertion.
I don't see anything offensive or contentious with your post. I'm not emotionally invested either, just a little amused watching Blake answer a question that he says doesn't exist.
Lol, all born atheists yet countless amounts of ancient civilizations believed in God/Gods/creator.![]()
its's me change your at ude and I might answer some of your questions. As for Blake quit being a got and I might answer some of yours.
I don't make any assumptions about "God", since I have not seen any evidence for its existence, and the people proposing such tend to suck at justifying their beliefs and complete lack of evidence. I don't think I will bother with expending any real energy positing characteristics, other than to note what I have already.
They all believed that magic spirits made people sick too.
This is known as an "appeal to popularity" logical fallacy.
Countless civilizations have believed in God, therefore God must exist.description of Appeal to Popularity
The Appeal to Popularity has the following form:
Most people approve of X (have favorable emotions towards X).
Therefore X is true.
Sorry. Add this bit to the fail pile as yet another useless idea.
And? That has nothing to do with them believing in God/creator.
Scientist used to claim smoking was beneficial for your health. What about piltdown man? Lucy? Nebraska man? By your logic science is full of .
So you are unwilling to bother to explain.
Fair enough. Do not expect me to bother answering your questions any further.
I have no need to lash out, but it was *your* question. Most people with any decency or sense would say that the burden lies on your end to make sure that your own question is understood if you want it answered.
Your attempts to do a victory dance because "RG/atheists can't answer my question" is pretty obviously more to suit your ego, than any attempt at getting at a greater truth.
off, the grown ups are talking.
(well maybe not, Rob seems to have given up doing anything other than trying to make himself feel better too. sad.)
More fails. Science uncovered the truth in each of those cases, and rather quickly. Lucy is actually not any kind of fraud, except to creationists with their fingers in their ears going "la-la-la".
Far from "proving science is wrong", they merely reinforce the self-correcting, superior ability of science to accurately portray the universe as it exists.
Your theology can't even get you to admit that slaughtering children is evil, even when given evidence that it clearly is so by any reasonable definition.
Morally and intellectually bankrupt philosophy should be discarded, IMO.
Then by all means correct me.
What does God require for your resurrection?
I think omnipotence is logically unfathomable to us, rather than logically impossible.
I see no logical reason to think that an omnipotent God could not exist.
If something can be imagined by the human mind, then it can be a reality, somewhere in this vast universe, even unicorns.
Probable, ....... maybe, and then again maybe not. But I am not willing to casually dismiss it as an impossibility when I honestly do not know for a surety.
We may discover unicorns in the future on some other planet, who knows?
But then why use your imagination at all if what you say is true, purely for recreational purposes solely?
No, if the human mind can "imagine" something, anything, no matter how improbable it is or seems to be, then that idea had to come from somewhere in the first place IMHO, and thus it just might have a basis in reality somewhere as well, even if only in another dimension if nothing else.
Lol, I don't buy that crap. of course scientist are going to claim they didn't get anything wrong.
Wrong again, and it was not in any way/shape/form murder. You simply do not understand what you are reading or choose to be willfully ignorant.
And tell me this, how in any way does evolution help humanity? I understand learning about diseases/viruses and things like that but I mean simply believing that you came from the ocean and are simply an more evolved ape?
From my understanding, repentance and baptism and also following and living by his laws/principles.
So God wants these things from us?
