Do you pray and ask God for forgiveness?
Or do you tell a priest or a minister?
Or do you confess them to your friends or a family member?
Or do you write them down and burn them?
Or do you slough them off as insignificant and forget about them?
Or do you fret and worry and stress over them?
Or do you tell them to a stranger you will never see again?
Or do you think you are so superior and perfect that you commit no sins?

And if not any of the above, then what do you do after you have done something you know is wrong?

I personally think "sin" is a religious distraction to keep people asleep.

One only sins in ignorance...in a state of "sleep"

One does not sin when they are awake. Sin is not committed unless the person is asleep. Why weep for something you did when asleep?

however... --if and after --you have sinned - you UNDERSTAND it. You understand where and what you were doing and you realize that you had fallen back into a "sleeping" state - and wake yourself up again. You learn why you acted in this way and you discover when and how you allowed yourself to "fall asleep"

Why confess? Why go to another "sleeping" person and confess? Why go to another ignorant sleeping sinner?

Why go to a congenital cripple and try to have him help you walk?

    IMHO -

    Excellent take, lots of insight.

So I assume then when you do something wrong, you don't waste much time fretting over it, rather you slough it off and try to do better next time, try not to make the same mistake again, and try to learn from it?

Well, we would have to go into a whole lot of... "define sin" "define evil" etc...

    But generally...

I try to remain aware of what I am doing...what I am thinking...

of course being human...we fall back into "sleep" mode....then all you can do is try to UNDERSTAND - where it came from - what caused this act, this behavior, this "sin"

If you understand it - it automatically gets you back into an awake state again.

(...in before the trolls make an issue of my response above)

The trolls in here that get my ire - are treated this way for a reason - and we have already re-hashed this a million times - so suffice it to say - I feel that my response to them is pretty much them getting what they paid for. I treat you and others with respect - because - I have no reason not to. In other words - I know what I am doing when I address them and feel no need to question my treatment of them.

    It is what it is.

None of the above on a consistent basis.
Accidentally kill someone? Probably let a cop know.
Drop a tomato in the store? Gonna let myself live over that one.

at the irony of it all.
But religion, science, politics, everyday events, music, etc. are all interesting topics that spur discussion and debates.

Just one of many low hanging fruits, but your analogy is funny nonetheless.

    I admire your at ude.
Was it always this way, or did your recent brush with death, and realization of the mortality of life change your point of view any?
I was referring to what you do if you commit an obvious wrong in your own conscience.

I confess my sins to God who is Kobe because I know he's done more sins than I have (raping in Colorado, extorting 49m from his team when he knew he was done).

Everything is fair game...however, this place in the forum has gone to because it's the same factions arguing over the same . Posters place themselves on opposite sides of posters they dislike and then you get a bunch of straws, ad homs. Got to appreciate the robdiaz's of the world for at least raising the bar, tbh.

This is place is one big ass circle jerk for atheists and closet liberals.
