If you throw Daye on the pile, then, THIS.
Grass is greener.
I'm fine with either/both coming back or going away. Just not that big a deal.
If you throw Daye on the pile, then, THIS.
Right. Easy to forget.
My guess is the fourth big minute eater role is currently Jeff's to lose.
Ayers is a POS, period. Dude couldn't keep up i summer league.
George Hill couldn't keep up in SL, either, and is now making $8M and starting. SL is a ty sounding board. If you're not a chucker guard you won't be noticed. , Ostertag took Timmy's lunch money in SL.
Baynes is still better than Ayers and you guys are desperate to undermine any good he may do in international play.
Ayers was inferior to Baynes against easier compe ion.
Last season your ship was sinking but now it's capsized and at the bottom of the ocean. Baynes deserves a roster spot. Hopefully when he gets done overseas where he has been doing good work he can come home and be our 4th big.
It's just not as big a deal as you want to make it.
Baynes is clearly overrated on ST, it doesn't make him a bad player but people think his ceiling is higher than it probably is.
Baynes has intriguing tools but at the moment is no better than Ayers. Ayers biggest problem is his lack of hands. If he catches and finishes better then he his value to his team rises.
Baynes does have a specific value as a strong rebounder, that's a useful skill on a team on a team that struggles to crash the glass.
Baynes is more of a natural center than Ayers (who is a PF who primarily plays C for the Spurs)
If the Spurs believe he can develop into an 18-22 mpg center off the bench, on a cheap deal then they will likely take the chance.
Both have struggled with fouling and turnovers. Which is an area that both needs to improve on.
If his value lies in his ability to match up against bigger front courts, then that's not all that valuable in today's NBA.
Detroit & Memphis are probably the biggest teams in the league.

This is Scotty Brooks level basketball thinking. Overplay your starters and rely on a few stars. Spurs use their entire roster and in light of Duncan's age, his minutes are set to decline. More minutes are going to be available at the 5.
We like Baynes. Quit being an intolerant bag about it.
Or 4. Like last year when Baynes didn't play. It could just as easily go that way again this coming season. Baynes needs to improve a lot to become a regular rotation player.
How specifically am I being intolerant about it? No one is forbidding you from liking anyone. You're being extremely emotional about Mensah-Baynesu. It's cracking me up.We like Baynes. Quit being an intolerant bag about it.
Baynes improved his rate of fouling throughout the season and is a far superior pnr and rim defenderand rebounder than Ayres. The difference in strength is not significant nor is leaping ability but Baynes is much more agile and coordinated than Ayers.
Ayers biggest problems are that he is a slug when asked to defend the high pnr and he is not very quick and agile so he has a big problem turning, moving his feet and getting in position to defend the rim even when he sees the play coming at him.
The difference between Baynes and Ayers is that Ayers fouls because he is constantly out of position. Baynes fouls because he is overaggressive. You read stat lines more than you evaluate players especially with SSS.
Because mocking derision is intolerance. Schadenfreude is antisocial behavior. What you are doing here is no different than the that xmas et al do. I am a lot less upset about it than you think but if all you intend to do is try and get your jollies I suppose there is no point in discussing this with you further.
No, it's mocking derision.Do you know where you are posting?Schadenfreude is antisocial behavior.I don't remember trying to broker a truce. What you are doing here is no different than the that xmas et al do.Well, I can't say I am convinced after that rant. You really are taking this personally and it's difficult for me not to have a chuckle at such a visceral reaction to common basketball sense.I am a lot less upset about it than you think but if all you intend to do is try and get your jollies I suppose there is no point in discussing this with you further.
do not go sa fast on baynes. Good Guy, pretty decent player but was completely washup against France tonight.. France won 75-50.....
Well, now friendlies mean absolutely nothing.
he was the only player for the aussies that did anything in that game

Totally true.
In fact, Baynes was the only Aussie starter to have more than one field goal in the entire game. And he had a double double. Baynes had a better game than any other aussie.
What do you mean by washup? I just looked at the box score and Baynes had 17pts, 11rebs and 3 blocks. How is that a bad game? I assume you watched it and are going by the way he played?
It seems Diaw shot 6-13 from the field and Baynes shot 6-14 (5/6 ft). I know France won big, but stat wise, Baynes looks like he did OK.
I assume you guys were able to watch the game? You want to give us some more info? Were Baynes' stats empty stats (where he didn't have much influence on the game), or did he actually play OK out there? Just going by the stats, it looks like Baynes tried to bring it and the rest of his teammates didn't show up.
Also, I am interested in how Gelabale did. He's a SF, right? You guys think he can play in the NBA still or has his game dropped off?

Duncan cannot keep going. He is a big chance of to having an injury this season given his age etc Just like Parker and Manu. So logically Spurs need more than one centre backup . Baynes is cheap even at his alleged asking price. Spurs management should ask Batum and Diaw who could not stop him scoring. Ayers has had his chances.
Where you able to watch this previous game against France?
Where in are Batum and Diaw supposed to guard the center position?
They did their job as Forwards and it was damn fine, given the abortion of a Job that did Joe Ingles (totally NBA ready, seems so) and David Alexander.
You have terrible basketball takes.
Exactly. Baynes is an option in a few situations. It gives Pop someone to body up with Gasol or Howard if there is foul trouble or guys need a few minutes blow, but nothing more. I'd like him to stay to bring back the whole squad, but it is not like he will get anything but intermittent minutes and even fewer important minutes.
Where can we find highlights or replays on the internet of these games?
Batum & Diaw have watched Baynes, and watched their team not stop him scoring. Baynes has been let loose on the court, a luxury not given him at Spurs in the past.
