To be fair, the Clippers originally wanted to trade him for Afflalo but the Magic were demanding too much at the time.... plus, the Bledsoe trade isn't looking so great for the Suns either....

Regardless, fat Dudley not wasting a roster spot anymore is awesome.... Delfino is the type of three-and-D guy we needed and Raduljica is a developing big with potential who can make free throws, get offensive boards and actually has a few post moves....

We would have lost him for nothing in free agency since he delusionally thinks he's worth the max, so there really was nothing much that could be done.... at least we got Re out of it....

And the Clips were able to avoid keeping Eric Gordon by insisting on holding onto Bledsoe in the Paul trade.

I just can't believe how far people's stocks have fallen over the last two or three years. Gordon, Bledsoe, Dudley. All seemed like incredible assets at the time. Now, they're either on new teams or in situations where their current teams are trying to get rid of them.

He was out for the season last season, but he's been working on his recovery. It's also possible the Clips might use the stretch provision on him and waive him. Then they would have room for another addition.

To give them some flexibility. They were so close to the hard cap that they couldn't even add a 13th man. Neither Delfino or Raduljica are fully guaranteed for next season and apparently they won't even make it that far. Rumor has it both are going to be waived, with Douglas-Roberts and Udoh mentioned as possible replacements.

Only being able to carry 13 is never good, particularly for an injury prone team with championship aspirations. They're much better off in terms of big depth now, but the perimeter has the same, old issues. There's no starting SF and a serious lack of size, athleticism and defense on the wings in general.

If Delfino missed a good chunk of last year, wouldn't insurance be covering his contract now? If so, the Clips would actually get a significant amount of flexibility. Although, I would have demanded Middleton if I were Los Angeles. They still need a half-way decent wing.

He was injured when he was still a Rocket, before the current deal, but apparently had a recurrence of the injury and had to have another surgery. The Bucks apparently signed him even though they knew he was hurt (probably expecting a quick recovery), so I'm not sure the insurance is covering that. That said, the Bucks did obtain a Disabled Player Exception back in January since he was set to miss the rest of the season. He only has $3m guaranteed left in his deal, IIRC, so the Clips can certainly waive him.

Dudley ends up as one of the most overhyped role players in recent history, tbh..

Forums/media was full of people hyping him up for the missing piece as a 3-D on a potential contender, only for him to gain 30 pounds and completely fall off once he joined the Clippers..

Some players just aren't meant to play for contenders, or just can't stop eating, tbh..

This is the reason why the Clippers are farther behind the Spurs and Thunder and more vulnerable to "upsets" (Memphis, and GSW)

last two seasons their lack of production on at either forward spot has been pretty laughable, save for Blake Griffin and Matt Barnes (not so much this past season).

    Danny Granger-12.6 P.E.R

    Lamar Odom-10.9 P.E.R

    Glen Davis-10.3 P.E.R

Jared Dudley-8.9 (Last 4 seasons in PHX he had an league average or above average P.E.R)

    Hedo Turkogulu-7.9 P.E.R

    Antawn Jamison-7.8 P.E.R

    Byron Mullins-7.8 P.E.R

    Stephen Jackson-0.1 P.E.R

As for their size only Barnes and Bullock are above 6'6. I like Barnes but he definitely isn't a starting SF and I don't trust him to check KD full time. He's also a mediocre 3pt shooter.

Red s a small 2 guard at 6'4 and Crawford isn't a great defender. I'd love to see the Spurs play them in the WCF (if either gets that far).

Yeah, we've been in dire need of a small forward basically since Maggette opted out and left, but Dudley clearly wasn't the answer.... problem is, we're up against the hard cap, and with Choke Paul being such a choking got come playoff time, ring-chasers like Marion who would be a perfect fit simply weren't going to risk taking less money to play with him....

That's why Spurs fans shouldn't be so keen to low-ball Green next summer. Many players get the distinction of being three-and-D players, but only a few can do it at a championship level.

It's crazy that that is the best deal the Clips could get for Dudley, though. You'd think Philly would have taken him and the pick without Los Angeles having to owe $4.5 Million over the next two seasons.

Seriously, the Pacers have an injury exception that would have allowed them to take back Dudley for free. You've gotta think LAC would have rather moved him there.

Its probably going to get worse before its gets better at SF. Jordan is likely going to push the Clips into the luxury tax if they resign him. They could have a payroll as high as $85 million after next season. Adding that to no draft pick and no MLE along with Barnes turning 35 this season.

Maybe they consider moving Red s deal next.

It won't be that bad. The Clips are hard-capped this year because they used the MLE for Hawes. Next year, they can use the mLE to sign a small-forward and Bird rights for Jordan. The issue they have is that they can't seem to draft a starting-quality wing. They've invested two picks over the last two years in such a player, but each time it was a questionable decision. They'll probably try to trade one or both of those guys for a more-proven player. But they may be gunshy now that they've screwed up with Dudley.
