    Red s a small 2 guard at 6'4 and Crawford isn't a great defender.
The problem with those two is they're not big/strong enough to credibly play together in a lot of match-ups (but because they're their two best wings, they have to force it some), yet combined they eat up roughly $12M annually.

Don't be surprised if Crawford is either traded at the deadline or gone next off season. He already wants a new deal, probably a raise too and with their hole at SF and limited flexibility/assets, it doesn't make sense to give it to him.

Seriously, the Pacers have an injury exception that would have allowed them to take back Dudley for free. You've gotta think LAC would have rather moved him there.
The Pacers desperately need someone who can create their own shot though. This is why Beasley's name has been mentioned.

And the Clips were able to avoid keeping Eric Gordon by insisting on holding onto Bledsoe in the Paul trade.

I just can't believe how far people's stocks have fallen over the last two or three years. Gordon, Bledsoe, Dudley. All seemed like incredible assets at the time. Now, they're either on new teams or in situations where their current teams are trying to get rid of them.
True story Bledsoe is the only one that still has any value left ...

It won't be that bad. The Clips are hard-capped this year because they used the MLE for Hawes. Next year, they can use the mLE to sign a small-forward and Bird rights for Jordan. The issue they have is that they can't seem to draft a starting-quality wing. They've invested two picks over the last two years in such a player, but each time it was a questionable decision. They'll probably try to trade one or both of those guys for a more-proven player. But they may be gunshy now that they've screwed up with Dudley.
They already have $67 million committed to 9 players for the 15-16 season, with Jordan resigning, it could push them to about 80 million depending on the deal. I guess they can still use the MLE but if the the luxury tax level rises to around $82 million (I just added another 7 percent to the current tax level) next season the hard cap would be $ 86 million for teams that use the MLE.

They would still need to fill at least 3 roster spots after resigning Jordan. It would be difficult to use it to sign one player, granted there really aren't many FA wings worth the full MLE and would still need to add 1-2 more players on minimum deals.

Jeff Green would be a upgrade over their recent SF but they don't have another 1st round pick to offer until 2016 (if I'm not mistaken they can't actually trade the rights to that pick though)

By "mLE", I meant the tax-payer's MLE. Trying out some shorthand. I think they'll be third in line after Danny Green next summer (behind SA and Cleveland and jostling for position with the NY teams) if they find a way to get the full MLE to use. But they'll likely try to secure someone like Middleton from the Bucks.

By the by, Hollinger better be thanking his lucky stars that the Clips outbidded the Griz for Dudley. It was he who started inflating Jerrod's value in the first place.

I think the Clips moving Crawford makes plenty of sense, especially if it helps to address their weakest position. Their lack of size could really get them in trouble against several teams in the west, especially a team like GSW with size galore with five wing players all at least 6'7.

    An interesting trade idea:

    Hawks Get

    J.J Red
    Jamal Crawford
    Reggie Bullock

    Clippers Get

    Kyle Korver
    DeMarre Carroll

The trade would work without Bullock as well. Korver is cheaper than Red and also also bigger (6'7) Carroll is on an expiring deal and wasn't half bad for the Hawks. A big SF at 6'8 and can play some small ball PF.

The Hawks depending on how compe ive they are in the east ,could use Crawford's scoring punch off the bench with Red and Mike Scott taking over as starters along with Teague, Milsap and Horford.

Neither team would take on much salary going forward. The Hawks would have to payout a $1.3 and $1.5 million more, after next season, to Red than they would have had to with Korver, but the rising cap would more than off set that down the road. They can choose whether or not to keep Crawford after next season, who is on a team option.

LAC's SL would definitely be better balanced, but they would still not be any stronger over all than they are now. It would make more sense to me if they tried to move Bullock for Carroll straight up. Don't think the Hawks would do that, either. They probably want to do right by Korver, and they probably don't want Crawford back.

Losing Crawford is gonna hurt monkeyball hard imho, they're left with literally no bench thanks to Crawford's departure.

Though the Hawks could desperately use a shot creator/scorer on the wings, they love Korver, so I doubt there's any chance they'd do this, even if Re is similar.

Also, they've worked to add size and defense on the wings this off season and this would somewhat decimate that, leaving them with one SF sized wing in their rotation (despite the ESPN listing, Scott can't play SF). So the end result would be the same issue Re /Crawford have with the Clippers. They'd be best on different teams.

For the Clippers, this would leave them short on ball handling/scoring. Ideally, they need to upgrade Barnes with a legit starting SF and sign a lesser Crawford to flesh out their wing rotation.
