http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-...gee-and-fillerReport: Kings trade Jason Terry to Rockets for Alonzo Gee and fillerJason Terry is headed back to Texas. (USATSI)Yahoo Sports reports that the Sacramento Kings are finalizing a trade sending former Dallas Maverick (and Boston Celtics, and for like five weeks a Net) Jason Terry to the Houston Rockets for Alonzo Gee and other non-guaranteed picks which could create more cap room for the Kings. The Kings will also reportedly send two second-round picks to Houston.Terry fell off a cliff after the Mavericks 2011 championship season, and the Mavericks let him walk to Boston to join Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce for what was an ill-fated last run at the le. He was included in the deal Brooklyn made at the 2013 draft for KG and Pierce, and then dealt to Sacramento for Marcus Thornton. He never played a minute for the Kings.Terry is on the books for $5.8 million this season as an expiring, so the Rockets are basically sending contracts they could waive and get off the books this year for a veteran who could find a revival in their wide-open three-point oriented system who expires next year. For the Kings, if they waive Gee and whoever else they get in the deal, it gets them further from the luxury tax threshold, and, if they make any dramatic moves later this year with Rudy Gay(in a contract season), Derrick Williams (same) or anyone else, it could help to have less room on the books.Gee doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the Kings with Rudy Gay and Williams. But he's likely to wind up on a roster if waived. He's a competent backup small forward. Can Terry resurrect his career in Houston? They can use the locker room leadership. I wonder if he can turn that leprechaun into a rocket, somehow?
Just when you think the Rockets couldn't be any more unlikable..
djohn will be in shortly to tell us how this will help the rockets
Your draft sucked. Lol
nope, i made out like a bandit
Great news for Spurs fans. It will be much easier to hate Houston with Terry on their team.
Does his LOB-Trophy tat count towards the two Houston already has?
JET is an upgrade over Rin at PG, tbh.
death and taxes
They traded Alonzo Gee a guarantee to not make the roster for 2 2nd round picks that can be used in a trade along with Terry's contract, + Lin Trade exception. Don't know what's so hard to understand about it.
Please don't let this be the end of the trade
Here's hoping Morey has something up his sleeve and JET is just a trade chip for a bigger deal.
That's all this is about. If it were anything different they would not have gotten picks back. Picks no matter what round are quite valuable in trades. So is the Lin trade exception
Can't add contracts to TE. So anyone they could get with the exception, they could have gotten anyway, and now they have two fewer assets. Since Terry's finished, Gee's non-guaranteed deal is a much better chip. The Rockets may be open to moving JET for something else, but they didn't trade for him to do so.
I don't care if you're an optimist and think this trade is decent value. That doesn't take away from the fact that it's lackluster when compared with what the team lost. This being the best they could do with Gee's contract is sort of distressing, since the Kings would have bought Terry out anyway.
Terry's last chance to make any noise in his career.
proven vet tho... Let's see what happens
They didn't trade for him to play either. It gives them more room to make a trade.
Btw they would have Terry, Daniels, and Garcia all 3 pt scialists taking up 3 spots. Not happening.
How does it give them room to make a trade? Terry is a worse contract than Gee and possibly a worse player at this point.
