    Lakers @ Spurs

    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164423

Second Spurs game I got to attend, even though SA lost in 2OT it was Manu's coming out party. Played without Timmy and TP against LA's new big 4 at the time. I had been a Spurs fan growing up, but Manu's emergence ended up being the catalyst for me becoming a spursfan for life.

I know it wasn't playoffs, but I've always had a soft spot for Manu's career game against Phoenix in 2005. Spurs were trailing big-time in the fourth quarter in that one, but it's like Manu just said " it...I'm not losing to these whiny ass es tonight".

From 1999 two lesser known games
About two thirds through the regular season- the Jazz where still considered the favorites at the time
The Spurs went into Salt Lake City and beat the Jazz soundly- held them to 69 points. At that moment I starting thinking this team could win it all.
Game3 WCF- Spurs up 2-0 tight game, Duncan on the bench with fouls and the Spurs behind Robinson demolish the Blazers in the 3rd quarter.

    Outside of that
03 finals game 6 Robinson leaving as a champ
14 finals game 5 so satisfying.

I was there the night the Spurs beat the Lakers twice in one night at Hemisfair in like 83 or 84.

I remember watching this game after coming home from the movies. That Marion shot to send the game into overtime was one of the flukiest things I've ever seen.

2003 vs Lakers best game I've ever seen, specifically the point where they got separation towards the end of the 3rd.

I remember Tom Tolbert stating that LA would make a run to make the Spurs sweat in the 4th, and swiftly retract that remark when Ginobili criss crossed the out of Shaq.

It went from an expected nail-biter to a scene of Kevin Willis thunderous putbacks and Steve Smith corner 3s. LA was left literally in tears as their run ended spectacularly.

*bittersweet part of the epilogue is the following year where once again a last second game 5 shot determined the series winner*

I forgot Game 3 of that series. That was easily the most dominant defensive performance in franchise history. I remember the Blazers coming out red hot in the first quarter complete with a bull luck shot by Rasheed at the end of the quarter and then the Spurs held them to some ridiculous number, like 20% shooting in quarters 2,3,4. Must have been that, since Portland shot 24.7% for the game.

I have to admit I have never seen most of Game 4 of the 99 WCF though, because I immediately drove to the Dome to spend the night in line for Finals tickets midway through the second quarter. I was like 12th in line and then in the morning the police went and kicked something like 9 homeless people from Houston who were ahead of me out of line; scalpers bussed them in and the police kicked them out because none of them had any money (scalper was just going to stand at the head of the line and hand them the money when it was their turn).

Though I have been a fan since 85, no game from 85-97 comes close to these 16: (sorry I have to index from 0 like C++ tbh, forgot about TD's first playoff game)

    0. 1998 WCSF Game 1 - In his playoff debut Tim Duncan completely takes over the second half of the game, destroying Antonio McDyess and Hot Rod Williams and setting the stage for a career of dominance over the Suns. Duncan cannot be stopped!
This wasn't the WCSF, it was the 1st round.

Duncan's 3pointer game against PHX in 2008 always stands out to me for some reason tbh. I just remember going crazy watching the game.

It's followed closely by Tim ending the Kobe/Shaq 3peat in 03.
I was in San Antonio, but not in the arena that day in 2008... great memories, tbh...

Too many to pick just one, tbh... Game 5 against the Pistons, Game 5 this past season, the entire 2003 series against LA, they're all up there...

    1. Game 6 vs. OKC in 2014..it had "Spurs loss" written all over it once they collapsed in the 4th, yet they somehow kept their composure and won it..Duncan and Ginobili capping it off in clutch time made it even more special, along with Kawhi's historic strip of Westbrook..

    2. Game 5 vs. Detroit..most unbelievable performance(Horry) that I've ever seen, tbh..

    3. Game 6 vs. the Lakers in 2003..Spurs finally turned the corner, Duncan dominating, Fisher and Kobe crying, etc..

    4. Game 6 vs. Dallas..Steve Kerr

    5. Game 1 vs. the Suns in 2008..classic game, quickly ended Phoenix's hopes after everybody picked them to win the series after the Shaq acquisition..

    6. Game 5/6 vs. Phoenix in 2007
    7. Game 3/5 vs. Miami in 2014
    8. Game 3 vs. Miami in 2013
    9. Game 1 vs. Golden State in 2013
    10. Games 1 and 2 vs. OKC in 2014

Favorite games that led to a Spurs loss:

1- Game 7 vs. Dallas in 2006..heartbreaking, the worst loss I have ever endured as a Spurs fan, but such a classic game

2- Game 7 vs. Miami in 2013..amazing that they even got so close after the heartbreaking in game 6, and Parker/Ginobili being non-factors

3- Game 4 vs. Phoenix in 2007.. The Horry bodycheck on Nash game

Game 1 against the Dubs in 2013 should be up there as well. Down by 14 with less than 4mins left, one of the craziest comebacks of all time in playoff history.....

Bazemore almost being the hero....Pop not throwing in the towel.....happened on my birthday...great stuff tbh.

Now that I look back on it,that Dubs game was insane.

    -Curry going off
-Duncan leaving with the stomach flu
-Pretty sure RJ choked hard on two FTs
    -Clutch bucket from Danny/TP/Manu
-Bad Manu getting redeemed by Good Manu

One of the craziest games i've ever seen tbh

I remember RJ getting fouled and thinking he would choke hard like how he always did here. The only good thing RJ ever did for the Spurs.

Duncan/Ginobili punked RJ in that game too IIRC

The 2013 run would have been one of the most epic in NBA history. The only thing that could have been better than the Spurs winning in '13 was pretty much exactly how 2014 played out tbh

Game 6 2003 vs LA is a no-brainer as my favorite Spurs game of all time. But damn it's tough to pick a second favorite. My top three contenders

+ Game 5 vs Detroit in 2005 with Rob killing in perhaps the most amazing role player performance in NBA history, like ^Gaddafi was saying
+ Game 3 vs Miami in 2014 with Leonard killing Miami in transition, especially off steals from Green (he had five steals that game)
+ Game 5 vs Miami in 2014 with Ginobili and Leonard dragging the Spurs back from a 22-6 deficit and then Mills finishing Miami off for good, and breaking them up. After the way Manu played the last two games of the 2013 Finals it was great to see him be the biggest reason the Spurs won the le clincher. It was like watching 07 or 08 Ginobili.
