Favorite games that led to a Spurs loss:

1- Game 7 vs. Dallas in 2006..heartbreaking, the worst loss I have ever endured as a Spurs fan, but such a classic game

2- Game 7 vs. Miami in 2013..amazing that they even got so close after the heartbreaking in game 6, and Parker/Ginobili being non-factors

3- Game 4 vs. Phoenix in 2007.. The Horry bodycheck on Nash game
If I'm picking my favorite Spurs loss of all-time, that one's a no-brainer too: Game 4 of the 2014 WCF when Corey Joseph, Patty Mills, Boris Diaw, and Matt Bonner kept making runs in a game that should have been over, forcing Brooks to play his main guys for almost the entire game. That paid such dividends in Games 5 & 6 when OKC looked gassed.

co-signed. all those guys take a lot of yet were huge in the long run.

my memory of the Manu choking in 2006 was I was on vacation in Hawaii, and I was trying to follow the game with the car radio when that fateful moment happened. so I don't recall seeing it live until later. I figured Stern had ed over the Spurs per par, but the truth was more painful. It put me in a funk even while in Hawaii.

Now that I look back on it,that Dubs game was insane.

    -Curry going off
-Duncan leaving with the stomach flu
    -Parker leading the comeback
-Pretty sure RJ choked hard on two FTs
    -Clutch bucket from Danny/TP/Manu
-Bad Manu getting redeemed by Good Manu
    -Screaming lady

One of the craziest games i've ever seen tbh

It looks like the kids have the Duncan era covered, so I'll just throw out my favorite pre Duncan game, 1996 game 2 vs the Suns. Robinson still at his MVP peak form, probably his best playoff game ever, and it felt so good to finally stick it to the damn Suns.

Didn't become a fan til 04, so I'm not gonna pick a game from before then. I think the poll should include game 6 of this years Spurs Thunder series, I think that may have been the most nervous I had ever been in a non Finals game just because this year really felt like it was our last chance and that game had such huge implications. Obviously now that we've won it, I think we have the best chance of anyone to win it next year, but I just don't think the team could have mentally afforded to lose again last year and still make a deep push this year.

Back to the poll though, Spurs Suns where Duncan hit the 3 and and the game where we won the championship this year are my favorite games. It's a shame that I can't place game 6 of Spurs Heat 2013, because that probably was the best basketball game I had ever seen in terms of my enjoyment and how into it I was. I remember losing my mind when Parker hit the step back 3 over Lebron, and actually kind of tearing up when we were up 5 with 28 left. It was just so surreal that we had won sucha dog fight against prime Lebron and co.

Game 1 against the Dubs in 2013 should be up there as well. Down by 14 with less than 4mins left, one of the craziest comebacks of all time in playoff history.....

Bazemore almost being the hero....Pop not throwing in the towel.....happened on my birthday...great stuff tbh.

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned before. Definitely one of the top Spurs playoff games.

Game 5 of these past Finals by a longshot but after that:

Game 6 of the 2003 NBA Finals when Da Admiral rides into the sunset with another ring and has a great 13 point 17 board game to go out in style.

I'm a more recent fan so I can only speak on games I watched live.

And for me, the most intense and satisfying game was 2014 WCF Game Six.

We'd lost like 8 times straight in Chesapeake. There we are, 4th quarter in their house. Elimination game. It feels like the Tim Duncan era is on the line. Manu hits the crucial three. We go to overtime. Duncan closes out in OT. Guarantees the rarest of opportunities - revenge

Mine is Game 7 of the 2008 West Semis vs New Orleans. Here's why:

I absolutely despised Chirs Paul back then. He was the media's darling and was considered the next "great" point guard. But back then he was actually just a little punk who took cheap shots whenever he could, and who flopped constantly. I couldn't stand him. And when New Orleans went up 3-2 in that series I remember being just furious. I couldn't believe we were going to loose to that little creep and let him end our dynasty. And the media wanted it to happen SO bad. They openly rooted for New Orleans to finish off the old and boring spurs. That's the first time I really got the sense that everyone hated us. It was us against the world from that point on. Has been ever since.

After we smashed them at home in game 6, everyone just assumed New Orleans would win game 7 at home (And why not? They had crushed us in all 3 games on their floor thus far). But instead, the Spurs won convincingly, and Chris Paul played terribly. The Spurs weren't a great team that year, (They would go on and get smashed 4-1 by the Lakers in the WCF) but the Big 3 weren't about to let Chris Paul show them up and beat them.

And everyone assumes New Orleans was a bad team and Chris Paul had no help. WRONG. New Orleans was the #2 seed in the West, and was loaded with a prime David West, Peja Stojakovic, and Tyson Chandler as complementary pieces. If the Spurs hadn't taken them out, the Lakers would have been in big trouble in the WCF. And that's why game 7 was so special. It was about pride for the Spurs. They had gotten blown out all 3 games at New Orleans, and they just refused to lose. The series was so personal. Parker and Manu despised Chris Paul even more than I did. I knew we wouldn't beat the Lakers that year, but beating New Orleans in game 7 on their floor and crushing the media's and Chris Paul's chance at upending the Spurs dynasty brang me the most joy I've ever had as a fan.

I know others have their favorite game, but I don't see how this can't be the most pivotal Spurs game ever against a very tough defending champion team in the Pistons.

Definitely MDM with Sean Elliott having the presence of mind to keep them heels up and shooting one of the highest rainbows to get over Sheed that you will see.

First Ring..... Breakthrough game where people would have said Spurs are too soft and don't win those types of games..... And the en led confusion from the Blazers who had bought in on the hype that they were the next big thing and just had to step past the Spurs who were done.

All these were too satisfying to consider one of the other well deserving wins.

I know it wasn't playoffs, but I've always had a soft spot for Manu's career game against Phoenix in 2005. Spurs were trailing big-time in the fourth quarter in that one, but it's like Manu just said " it...I'm not losing to these whiny ass es tonight".

Great reminder of a super effort, including Barry. Between Barry and Manu the assists and the shots were falling.

This topic should have been split between playoff games and regular season games. Playoff games are so fraught with additional tension because of their importance. I was at the 5th game in this year's finals and can't imagine any game that will ever mean as much to me than that.

As far as a regular season game, let's go back in the wayback machine.

I'm not sure about the date, but the Spurs and Bucks linked up in a classic 3 overtime game which at one time was the second highest scoring game (171) in NBA history.

The remarkable thing about the game was the scoring duel between Mike Newlin and George Gervin. Newlin was a great shooter and of course GG was the best. They matched each other basket for basket during the regulation game and then through the overtimes until Newlin finally crapped out. Gervin went for 53 points and Newlin had 46. I had the official stat sheet from the game for years until my condo was destroyed by Hurricane Ike.

The game was so close for so long that each point/basket that tied and sent the game on and on was completely crazy.

#9 for me. That dunk Horry had in the 4th where he had MAX extension was sick. My son has a picture autographed by Horry when his final 3 was in the air. Good times.
