i'm aware. this year they're actually flying out early, on thursday, to try to get acclimated quicker
Point is.....regardless of coach/players the Raiders have sucked long and hard in the Eastern Time Zone. They wil be playing at 10am west coast time. Trust me, that's a big deal.

So you see there is something to this Time Zone thing. That other factors are involved than just who has the better team. In this "spot" the Raiders have historically struggled. Now add Rex Ryan vs a rookie QB at home....ouch!
teams in general aren't significantly worse traveling west to east than any other road game. the raiders have been terrible on the road, and that happens to include east coast games
The champs did the same thing last year and did well in the eastern time zone...
the champs did well everywhere![]()
'tis true! Such an awesome year! It'll be very difficult to repeat, but if there is a team built for the duration it is the champs.
At what point does it hit you that I don't just make up?
The table below displays the results, since 2005:
Game Time Zone ATS Record ATS Win Rate Mountain 22-10 68.8% Central 37-44 45.7% Eastern 44-57 43.6%
Interestingly, ATS performance of Pacific Time Zone teams gets progressively worse as they travel further east. Based on these results, we can conclude that West Coast teams don’t meet expectations and therefore “play badly” when traveling to the East Coast.
probably helps that the ravens, steelers, patriots are in the east
"my advice to him started a long time ago, he's been sitting in NFL locker rooms and NFL meeting rooms for years now ever since he was 12 years old he was in there, he knows what he's doing and at this point no advice needs to be given. I called him the other night to talk to him about Rex and his defense and some of the things that Ive seen from him the last 6 or 7 times Ive played against him" and said Derek was already on top of it and had already broken down all the film. He knows that preparation is the key, he's ready to go.
Why do you fight....facts!...so damn hard?
Do teams play better at home.....why? There is more to this than just the athletes involved.
Dude, wow~
i dont fight facts. the raiders are a terrible road team until proven otherwise
Why totally ignore what studies showed about....all west coast teams on the east coast? From an historical perspective.
Yes it makes a difference for everyone not just the Raiders.
and this is how a rookie guard wins a starting gig
Did a pretty good job--he'll develop nicely.
And the only teams in mountain time zone are broncos and cardinals and they havent been good most of the time since 2005
Well broncos were a little better than i thought. 3 13-3 seasons, 2 8-8 seasons, 1 9-7, 1 7-9 ,and 1 4-12
But the Cardinals had 4 5-11 seasons, 2 10-6, 2 8-8, 1 9-7

Weird to say it, but this was actually a good piece from bleacher report. Was a critical piece about Carr's game. The kid certainly has a lot to learn, but I'm glad he's starting. As long as he isn't out there getting beat up any experience is good experience. Had he watched this game from the sidelines, he would be further behind in his development than he is at this moment, having faced 60 minutes of Rex. I just feel for him that we have the toughest schedule in the league and a bunch of stout defensive teams. As long as he stays upright and doesn't start getting defeated mentally, it'll pay off

as much as i hate the process of rebooting and starting over, this coaching staff pretty much needs to get canned. both coordinators as well as DA. they're coaching for their jobs at this point. if this fest continues and we start 0-4, i wouldn't be surprised if DA gets fired at that point (with the bye week looming) and Sparano becomes the interim HC.
i would start the offseason hunt by begging Gruden to come back. he loves Derek Carr, and he's a QB coach kind of guy, so the fit is there. the fans would take him back with open arms and he'd bring credibility. if that hire happens i'd kick the tires on wade phillips to run the defense if he's interested. he's a bad head coach, but he's had success as a coordinator. similar to crennel in that regard. gruden would presumably run the offense anyway, and i'd just promote Al Saunders back to offensive coordinator (he was the OC when hue jackson was our HC, and we had a good offense those days). he's still on the staff as a senior advisor.
pretty aware this forum doesn't care about the raiders, but just my 2 cents![]()
Worst flea-flicker ever.
although i posted it in the Week 2 thread, its only fair if i include this here...
