I think you misunderstand the level of acceptability of DV in the black community. It's not taken lightly at all. It's just that there are fewer men who have a stake in protecting women (like black fathers will kill a man for beating their daughter as readily as any other father, but there just aren't all that many of them). It's not a black platform that abuse is okay at all. They have no problem standing with women in this case.

But, no, I don't have a huge problem with coalitionalism. There's not a democratic governmental system that doesn't have it in some form (and it's a really big deal for parliamentary systems). That fact that you seem to be framing the issue as special interests versus a geneous group suggests you don't really grasp the political landscape, no offense. "White Christian men" is its own coalition of people who don't agree with each other on a lot of issues either but band together to try to push their own interests through. The formation of the Confederacy was very much a coalition between planters and yeomanry, the latter of whom was pretty much tricked into supporting the former through propaganda. That union is the reason why the Republican Party is splitting in two now.

If you believe the Republican party is breaking up then you must believe the same for the Democrats seeing as how they're also divided by those in the party who wish to become further liberal and those who wish to remain moderate. It's happening to both parties, tbh.

Perhaps, the best thing for America, would be to have a viable third party for the moderates. Not one that's completely governed by special interest groups or one that's stereotyped as racist, rich white men.

That was my point. As soon as two people pool their votes together, they are forming a coalition, with all the good and bad that entails. That's just a reality of politics. You have liberals who have to pretend to be outraged at everything and conservatives who keep voting out their moderates. In some form or another, there are these problems in every democratic nation.

That's what happens when the media becomes controlled by minority and special interest groups. It does get pretty funny when there's conflict between two different groups though. Like right now, black players have to pretend they're outraged at Ray Rice for knocking his out, but deep down they don't care and find that behavior acceptable in the black community. They're only acting different on camera to appease the feminists. It's quite amazing just what's happening in America right now.

I think it's crazy the culture shift to a morally outrage policed society ... but you act as though things were better when the media was controlled by the former majority (white/jewish). This country has it's flaws always has ... No domestic violence isnt anymore accepted in black communities (as far as I can tell) ... in fact strong black women and men will tell you a cat that hits a woman especially a pregnant one ... is the lowest of the low.

For example, when SAS got suspended he wasnt saying that DV victims deserved what they got. He was speaking about women who place themselves in bad situations and agitate those situations. If you watch that video Ray's wife did agitate him ... I just dont think any agitation deserves the "shot" she got. He should have just shaken her (a la Chris Rock) if he needed to remind her how strong he was ... the hit when way to far ... As strong as he is, if he just grabbed both arms he could have shut dat situation down. He chose to knock out the mother of his kid and got what he deserved. But there is a type of women (especially loud black ones but I have seen whites and latinas do this too) where they curse yell, hit taunt and challenge a man ... in a way that many men can only take so much. Again, not saying he should have hit her he is s for doing that to pregnant woman ... but for BEadle and others to act like women dont certain things to "provoke" an ass whupping? Is being naive ...he still should have stopped himself but that video also shows she was not passive in the incident.

The video changed everything... it's true people saw her unconscious but they thought maybe she instigated it...Ray had no record, he was believed to be a model citizen who made a mistake, and that maybe she assaulted him so hard a la Solange Knowles that he had to defend himself...

In this video you see that Ray is the instigator. He says something to her in the hall and she reacts but still she passes by him. However when they get in the elevator, Ray instigates it again by spiting in her face, she pushes him and he punches her lightly, she comes to him with both hands down and he knocks her out.
The most troubling part of the video, at least for me, is the reaction he had after that. Not fazed by it one bit. Not worried at all, like it wasn't the first time. He doesn't bother to cover her up or lift her up even though he's strong. At one time, he pushes her with his leg etc...

So yeah the video changes everything because it provides context...and not a good one for Ray.

That's not what happened. She didn't do anything in the video. He was the aggressor the whole time and hit her first and then finally knocked her out.

There was this perception that she was in the instigator by being a and attacking him when he was the aggressor the whole time. His defense tried to make her look like she started the whole thing and the team, media, and league pretty much went that route. This video proves she didn't instigate anything.
