I just watched the NBA Finals and Ray Allen was one of the few bright spots on that joke of a team (aside from LeRoid, Yoshi and Jaws)

I can only imagine the BEST SHOOTER IN HISTORY would kill it in a Spurs jersey.

Why wouldn't he choose the Spurs? They are the best team in the league. No other team comes close. It makes no sense to bend over backward for him.
I would do what you said if I was a player, but for some reason most other players don't see it that way. They don't seem to want to come here unless the Spurs are offering more money than the compe ion. I didn't think Ray Allen would be any different, so that is why I said he wouldn't choose the Spurs for the minimum if other teams like Cleveland offered the same.

Spurs won't offer the MLE for him, and they shouldn't tbh. Very unlikely that Allen goes here for the minimum. So this has 0% of happening.

    Also, Ray Allen tbh.

Why not. I don't see Manu playing very much this year anyway so it would be nice to get another clutch player.

The ? Of course the Spurs would only offer the minimum. They don't need Allen at all, so if he wants to go play in Cleveland, the Spurs certainly wouldn't be desperate to stop him. No way he gets anything near the full MLE, or even the full LLE.

The bottom line is that Allen isn't still on the market because so many teams are fighting over him. He's on the market because no one really values him. Everyone else has already used MLEs, mMLEs, LLEs and rMLEs on other players.
Hes on the market because he wants to be.

Ray Allen is still a damn good player. Hes better than Belinelli, and would make the Spurs barring injury near locks for a repeat.

He's on the market because no one really wants him that badly. Sure, teams with an open spot would take him for the min, but no one's carving out room in their rotation for him. Looking at rosters now, the only team I could see him getting consistent minutes on is Cleveland, and that's only because they traded away so many wings this summer. He certainly wouldn't (or shouldn't) get them in SA. At best, he'd be the fourth-best wing, and he'd be the sixth best perimeter player (seventh when Patty returns). And that's only if you think he's honestly better than Beli, which is definitely debatable.

I don't get it: What sense would it make to have a fourth two-guard over a third (healthy) PG or a front-court player? The Spurs already have Anderson to fill in spot perimeter minutes that result from injuries/rest. No need for Allen at all. And Ray wouldn't make the Spurs a better contender at all, since he wouldn't even be on the floor during the Finals. Seriously: Who would you replace in crunch time to get Allen minutes? The answer is no one, so there goes any value Allen could possibly have.

Even as a Uconn fan I don't care if we get him or not. He is to in love with Bron to even consider SA, but maybe i'm wrong.
