You gotta start in the mailroom and work your way up sometimes. I know the D-League sux but who does this guy think he is, Allen Iverson?
Not wanting to play in the D League indicates he has appreciation for good basketball and values his time.
The only time D League makes sense is to send raw players down to get minutes when they're trapped at the end of the bench.

Don't DLeague players make something like $400 a week? I wouldn't play for that bull either without a contract from the Spurs if I can make decent money in Europe.
Oh crap, that quote's from a Project Spurs article? He could have meant anything, as PS is terrible with translations (on purpose a lot of the time).
Euroleague can be far better than d-league. But he saying it openly makes him sound like a Nando De Culo 2.
Here is the original interview and the relevant passage:
http://www.bebasket.fr/a/46764-itw-l...de-la-d-league
Rough translation:Je ne sais pas quand j’irai en NBA car on ne contrôle pas tout. Mais une chose est sûre, je ne suis pas un grand fan de la D-League car le jeu n’est pas trop construit.
"I don't know when I will play in the NBA because you can't control everything. But one thing is certain, I'm not a big fan of the D-League because the play is not very structured/organized."
I thought the spurs were running the system in d league as spurs do in nba
He destroyed the rest of his draft class stat wise in a compe ive game. He's definitely already proved he belongs at the NBA level. If he didn't have that injury, he would be with the team already.
You get paid better, living conditions are better, and you get much better compe ion in Europe. Why would you trade all that in for a worse situation, and an opportunity to stunt your growth.
I don't think he's being stuck up, if you see his interviews he seems like a real down to earth kid. I believe he's just intelligent.![]()
Leading teams to victory is normally a good sign though...
My, my, a lot of jackasses in this thread.
Stay close to home playing with a team that's actually a team, against teams that are better collective compe ion, or tool around small cities in the United States for no apparent reason playing against inferior compe ion with teammates who are marginal at best?
Seems pretty smart to me.
i don't blame him at all. i wish he was also saying he was uninterested with playin in europe. i wish he would call out the spurs for keeping him off the roster all together.
LJC is playing no where near his home right now. SA is much closer.
I've heard they make about $25,000 so it would be about to $480. That wouldn't be what he would get payed ,though. It would be around $980,000.
Yeah. I don't think LJC was talking about d-league pay. It's possible, though, since he may not understand that players sent down get paid their normal wage. I think he just means he doesn't want to play most of his games in Austin. De Colo was the same way. The difference is that Nando is a fine European player, whereas Jean-Charles is a lower-level prospect. He'll have to get lucky to have a major role on the team next year.
I don't think he expects a major role, just that he develops in San Antonio. I think DeColo expected more than that, like rotation minutes instead of the cleanup duty he ended up with.
Some of De Colo's expectations came from Pop, who basically said that he was the backup PG before the '13 playoff and then went with Cojo.
