Chris Paul has and keeps snookering more mainstream NBA writers in history. Probably more to do with the Sterling controversy than anything.

I doubt Tony will ever gets his due much like Bowen never did.

I can't disagree with this. Deron Williams, his draft-mate, is completely done. Chris Paul has only had slightly more longetivity.

The vid only showed the top 10 but supposedly they have a list of top 100. Would like to see that list.

Congrats to Tim, but his is a makeup vote because of the Championship. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Well Pop has often mentioned that their style of playing is bad for the players' stats. When you figure that no one average more than 30 mpg last year, you know why. The proof is in the pudding and Tony has to grin and bear it when they try to lionize Chris Paul, who did probably peak in 200.8. CP3's pudding bowl is mighty empty.

Timmy deserves #5 based on his per minute production, but shouldn't be that high because he can't play the kind of minutes that younger guys can.

Having said that if you asked me who I'd want on my team going in to a playoff run, Duncan and Dirk are easily in my Top 5

Decent ratings, though I think they underrate Green and overrate Manu somewhat.

As for Green, who knows if he would be as successful in a different system but he is fantastic for the Spurs. Even if salary cap issues are ignored I wouldn't trade him for DeRozan straight up.

In the playoffs Manu deserves his ranking, but he can't put up enough minutes in the regular season to be that high overall. He wouldn't be nearly as useful to a non-playoff team.

Duncan is slightly overrated for the same reason, though he is more durable than Manu and is much more important to the team's defense. Duncan has a legit chance to be first team All-NBA at 39. Unreal.

If Diaw played for any other team hed never even sniff 100. I love Bobo but if but he benefits from this system note than any other player IMO
How many other teams could Diaw okay for and be this much a contributor
    The answer is NONE
We all know he's talented but SA might be the only place in the league where less than mediocre numbers in a variety of categories is held in such a regard as opposed to high numbers in few categories
And that's simply because of the system
100 is generous Manu might be too high. Parker n Green too low

Seriously, it's not even a stretch to say TD is still a top 5 player in the league. He is still one of the most valuable players who affects the game in so many ways, and just flat out helps the team win. Despite being 38 years old, and despite not being the focal point of the Spurs anymore, he is still the centerpiece that makes everything run efficiently. He's the engine. The team is still built around him, amazingly.

Duncan is still a great player, from an individual player stand point, Duncan is not #5. Most GMs will pick Griffin, Curry, Unibrow and even Dwight over him.

Obviously Duncan is the main defensive cog on the Spurs, and his offense is an integral part of a championship team, but the team was built specifically around him.

If people remember the finals, Games 1 and 2 were close because the Spurs still had a tendency to feed Duncan in the post and isos with Parker, and it stalled the offense and allowed the Miami defense to set. The Spurs were so successful in games 3 to 5 because the Spurs went away from that and started whipping the ball around to break down the Miami defense.

Duncan is no longer the kind of guy you can have carry a championship offense, like his earlier self.

People citing team success is discrediting the work Parker, Kawhi, Ginobili, Diaw, Mills, Splitter, and Pop did last year.

Duncan at #5 is ludicrous. This is just the media pigeonholing the Spurs' le into the conventional wisdom of teams needing a star player to carry them to a championship. Sorry son, the Spurs won a le with 8 players playing at a high level making roughly similar levels of contribution.

not just that, but timmy's D regressed a lot from last year, so the improvement is not justified.
