Paper trading accounts are a great way for beginners to get their feet wet and make some dumb mistakes without losing their shirts.

Given that the majority of their revenue is in China, where accounting standards are... subjective, to put it charitably, yes.

On the other hand, the business model works really really well there for a variety of reasons.

On yet another hand, they are sinking a lot of that cash into some odd tech trees.

    Ish.

Worth having a little of, but I would not be lining up to invest large sums, although it seems a lot of pension funds are doing just that.

I think the current low return environment has underpriced a lot of risks, and made people chase returns with less regard to risk than is prudent.

Funny thing abotu Alibaba, was something I heard on NPR, that the value of Yahoo's stock holdings in Alibaba was worth more than their own market cap.

Not sure I heard that correctly, but it wouldn't surprise me.

ESPECIALLY considering that all the company was not included in the IPO (the paypal function for one) and that Chinese law is made to foreign investors that multiple was crazy.
