Hair trigger but I don't why people, especially black males, have to reach for when told to stop by a cop. When are these ing idiots going to learn that the pasty white cop has been indoctrinated with 50% training of 1% probability? Every stop is a life or death moment to them, and when the skinnies don't seem to get it and thug out, cops start seeing flashes of dead trooper on the highway because he was afraid to shoot. I've been stopped plenty times. I've never had a gun drawn on me because I've never done stupid , and I carry.
Next time, before making a fool of yourself, watch the video. The cop asks him for his drivers license. Which presumably was in the center console. The driver was already out of his vehicle. Not once did the cop ask the man for him to get back into his vehicle. I agree with some of your points though.

This white cop is being charged. Same state but this black cop was not charged.
Gotta say, it's survival 101...when you see the lights behind you, pull over in a safe place, don't open the door, stay in the car and put your hands on the steering wheel where the cop can see them walking up. Your chances of getting shot are virtually zero.

first off, i don't think race has anything to do with it. if this was the case of a white cop wanting to kill a black guy, he would have killed him...
i think in general it would be smart to alert an officer of what you are doing. at the same time, to rush to shooting that way is just intolerable. the guy is really lucky to be alive, and it's just not right for him to be shot at in that situation. i can sort of see the cop's angle in it, the guy went into his car, popped back out... i get it. but you just can't have that itchy a trigger finger in a ing traffic stop.
if i was in the other guys' spot, i'd have reacted differently. i would probably say my license is in my car... i just dont get what the cop wanted. he told the guy to get out of the car, only to shoot him upon getting out of the car

Fault is irrelevant. We talk about defensive driving and yet the groids can't seem to get the concept of not getting shot. It doesn't matter what happens to the cop, the dude is shot.
Cops are notoriously poor shooters under duress. He missed. Cops don't shoot to wound.

Cop pulls up and tells you to get out of the vehicle, asks for license and registration. Do you dive back into the vehicle and when you hear the cop start panicking, come back out with something in your hand? I don't. I just stand there and wait for the cop to approach me. Cop ed up, damn right, but the cop didn't get shot. Avoiding getting shot is the point, who ing cares what happens to the guy who shoots you?
He can want to kill a black guy and not get stupid about it by emptying his gun into him. He shot how many times? It only takes one. Had it been a white girl, he wouldn't have panicked at all, probably not even a white guy. Black males get treated the same way as white skinheads or trailer trash. It's always a worst case situation every time for the cop. Unlike the white male, the black male isn't treated much differently regardless of his attire, car or education. He's shot.
Officers know that black men are exponentially more likely to be criminals and hyper aggressive than their white counterparts. They know this because they see the stats. They are told to ignore it, but they cannot and so they shoot.
I agree that the cop messed up and should have the book thrown at him. But when are we going to stop seeing people throw their lives away by acting stupid? And to think, we could have used the Brown shooting to educate people on how to interact with police. But instead, it had to be a political/racial cluster , and nobody ended up learning anything.
Such is life in America.
