It’s Week 4 of the Red Raiders’ season and we’re still talking about how Davis Webb needs to play up to his ability. Texas Tech’s offense has been unstoppable when it has been clicking, but that all starts with Webb. The playmakers around him — like wide receivers Bradley Marquez and Jakeem Grant and running backs DeAndre Washington and Justin Stockton — have been automatic, but Webb has struggled. Expect the Red Raiders to try to take advantage of a still young secondary, while relying on Washington and Stockton to eliminate the need for Webb to beat the Cowboys on his own.
When Oklahoma State has the ball
During Monday’s Big 12 media teleconference, Kingsbury said the Cowboys should run the ball every play after watching Texas Tech’s defense against Arkansas (438 yards rushing allowed). It might be close to that. Of course, the Cowboys have a better passing attack than the Razorbacks, though Garman seems to still be finding his comfort on the field. Running backs Desmond Roland, Rennie Childs and Tyreek Hill will try to duplicate what Arkansas did to Texas Tech, with a specific skill set available to each. Texas Tech needs to be wary of Oklahoma State’s big-play capability, though Garman isn’t the runner that injured QB J.W. Walsh is.
