Hmmmm?
Black tv shows.
Amos & Andy
The Bill Cosby Show
The Jeffersons
Red Foxx...what was that called?
The Flip Wilson Show
I know there was more than that.
I always find this sort of thing as being a...???? What if we tried...White-ish? How about the White Entertainment Network? A magazine...Ivory (Ebony)? What about schools that are Historically White Colleges & Universties like we have with Grambling, Howard, Alcorn etc etc?
...a website for just black singles? How about one for just white singles?
What gives?
Hmmmm?

does this mean shows with a predominantly white cast are "white shows"... in which case there are plenty
u were referring to sanford and son with redd foxx
The thing is those....white shows....don't play up "white'. While those black shows do play up...we is black...and it's obvious.
My aunt had a Redd Foxx record, he tells this story...
Soldier writes home to his wife...."Honey, if I don't get home pretty soon, I'm going to have to start buying sumthing"
Wife writes back...."Honey, if you don't send some money home soon I'm going to have to start selling sumthing'
Ha~~~~
Black viewers/customers need to be catered to. Unlike Asians & Browns who simply buy/watch the best. Which is why Blacks are and continue to remain so stereotypical.
It doesn't get much more white than the Brady bunch. Even the slave was white
I wonder who the sponsers will be?
Products and services white people use.
I've always wondered if the souths love for football would out weigh their racism. If they had the choice would those SEC schools still be lilly white which means they are not in the NCAA mix when it comes to Championships?
I can see it now...
Southern redneck hick..."look guys if we plan on competing on the national stage we're going to need those N..... us white boys are simply too slow"
Why did you just hijack your own thread?
Black-ish is a show for white people who want to seem trendy by watch "black shows". It's the modern-day equivalent of the old minstrel shows.
this. its like when people thought they learned a lot of black culture/references by watching bringing down the house
You do know a lot of hillbillies in those old mintrel shows, right?
Rumor has it God is going to make an appearance on one of the episodes of Black-ish this season. I'm sure that episode will get the highest ratings out of any tv show this year.
You forgot a word. I wouldn't normally care, but I'm not sure what you're asking as a result? Do I know that old hillbillies played in those shows? Yes, in fact, it was pretty much exclusively white performers in black face portraying slaves. That's how white folk started playing the banjo in the first place. Do I know that a lot of hillbillies attended those shows? No, because the shows were actually much more prominent in the Northern cities. Do I know any of the hillbillies in those shows? No. They've been dead for a long time, and they weren't the type of people I'd like to know anyway.
Why would John Cena be on that show?
Why try and talk about something you obviously know little about?
I probably know more about minstrel shows than you do.
Well since I;m holding a booklet in my hand that tells the whole story, I sort of doubt it. The booklet came with..."Good For What Ails You"...a two CD set featuring music from the 20's/30's that came from the mintrel show performers.
Yep, they go way back to Europe.
Claro.![]()
Smart move little fella.
Indeed. I wouldn't want to get schooled by a booklet. It's not like I didn't have to write a research paper on it or anything.
Trust me this 72 page booklet complete with 48 songs from those who performed in those minstrel schools, totally covers it.
So what was the first minstrel show here in the USA?
Totally.
Particular reason why you going on about this, Pops? I simply asked what you meant by "You do know a lot of hillbillies in those old mintrel shows, right?". You still haven't really answered what you meant, so I don't know if I've even answered your original question.
I could have swore ya said...
I probably know more about minstrel shows than you do.
Which isn't true.
Those mintrel shows here in the USA had both blacks/hillbillie performers.
