Remember when you guys wanted to lynch Splits like Silver lynched Sterling? Sweet Jesus, you called him everything but, a pseudo white man. It was awful. Only your old dad, Dale backed him, saved his life, then the little critter bit me. On second thought Geico Insurance is better. No seriously, I was right about Splits. You guys was wrong.
I'm not a good customer on dat one... I always backed up Tiago so...

And yet he led the position in Real Plus Minus (RPM) last season... despite limited minutes...
There's a difference between weighing Manu's value to the team and weighing his output vs the rest of the SG starters in the playoffs.

splitter sure as isn't a forward, and duncan's offensive game has moved out from the low post
both are centers, Duncan has been a center for quite some time now. Last 6 years sounds about right.

duncan's offensive game has moved farther from the rim. he's shifted away from center if anything, at least offensively

Yes they are better than Manu right now, he is older and still a good bench player but that is where it ends. He is about a 13ppg guy now, still very good but not a top 5 SG in the league lets be real now, this is not 09.
    This is dead on.
I was asking for your top 5 after harden and thompson

Davis is the best PF in basketball and it's not even close. Kid stays healthy and gets on a decent team he could be TD 2.0

Manu was great in the Finals in a couple games, but let's be honest... dude isn't top 5 SG in the league. He's got some attributes that no one else has, but he comes off the bench in limited minutes. You cannot put him up with high minute starters on playoff teams.
Sure you can. I never understood the 'limited minutes' argument. He's one of the top producers in the league, and he actually helps his team win.

That said, i also agree with Harlem that the position is currently a wreck, outside of Harden as the clear-cut #1, it's difficult to rank them.

The game is 48 minutes. If you ran a crew of Mexicans and they were raking leaves, would you consider Jose who only works one day of the week to be better than Manuel, who works every day, just because Jose has more bags of leafs in that one day than Manuel has, yet Manuel rakes all week and has more total bags for the week than Jose?

The difference being that Manu's value is doing whatever it takes [usually] for the team to win [see my sig]... most of the other SGs pad their stats for themselves, regardless of the team outcome. I'd rather have Manu's contributions in that light...

Same argument can be made for Tony...

But this is highly specialized work, and some mail it in while others deliver. For example, Brandon Jennings plays a load of minutes, but he only knows how to lose. He's a talented player, etc, but has no understanding of the game or what it takes to win. The league is littered with players like that and it's not just a matter of seniority either. Some guys never get it, some guys had it figured it out from the get go. Some do learn on the job.

It's obvious Manu's best was a long time ago, there would be no shame in him not being a top 5 at this stage, but the position has really taken a nosedive lately. It's difficult to find complete, exceptional talent at the SG spot nowadays. By offensive shine, Harden is a cut above, IMO. Guys like Danny Green excel being a specialist but the dude can barely dribble a basketball. This is a big reason you still see old guys like Wade and JJ still listed in any of these lists.

I mean... even peak, prime Manu [2004-2008] was willing to come off the bench... no other player had to "sacrifice" as much ego for the sake of the team...

I would take Monta over Stephenson. Monta has impressed me last season. I think he respects Carlisle, and he's always been talented. He is a case of a kid that could be damn good with solid guidance.

SG: Harden, Wade, Thompson, Beal, Ellis

Someone else said this and I agree but DAMN I went over the position and this is a horrible position nowadays lol. Stephenson is even on some lists and he is good but not a superstar or an all star even IMO. That is the worst position in bball so I have no quelms with some actually adding Manu if they want. Beal had one yer and is up and coming but putting him on the list was hard. Wade is fading out (Decent still at around 20ppg) and I am not a huge fan of Harden but he is good. I like Ellis game and he impresses me as some have said in here as far as the playoffs went. Thompson is a no brainer.

I definitely would take him over Lance Stephenson. Stephensons numbers are decent and he had a good year last year but overall he is not there yet IMO because of one good year. Manus numbers are not that far off infact if you look at per.
