I keep my plastic bags and recycle them like most other things in everyday life.
Meh, they banned them in my city a few years ago. I don't do the shopping so no biggie to me.
Same here - worst case you forget to bring your bags, and have to buy the HEB ones for pennies each.
alpha male!
Eh, I don't know how much it does for the environment aside from keeping them from getting stuck in trees.
stops me from just throwing them in the trash when I forget to take them to the recycling bin at HEB
Worked for a Costco that didn't use plastic bags. So annoying for the employee having to constantly explain we don't use them and apologize. Then you got the angry customer that purchased clothes and they are being stuffed next to the eggs & meat.
not sure if serious
Not a big deal after a while. Eventually, you buy a lot of reusable bags and remember to keep them in your car.
Serious. The reusable bags take a lot more energy to produce, for example.
my gf's mom gave her a bolga for Christmas, I generally take that.
I reuse them regularly so I'm glad we can still get them in Houston, otherwise I might have to start buying condoms off the shelf.
they are great for cleaning the litter box too. The ban in Austin doesn't extend to takeout, so they are still around.

well I guess you could have a list of a phone book of the damage plastic bags do to the environment...
I'll just go to the San Diego Auto Show again sometime and get some of the reusabe bags the car dealerships give out. Already have a few from that.
edit: Oh i thought it said grocery was in 2016 at first. Guess i would have to the next one because they have it every january.

It's was nice having HEB bags when I was going to school in Philly. Just kind of a way to represent the home state. Same thing is true when I use my Philly bag here.
I like the car company bags because I feel weird taking one stores bags into another store. And I've only lived in San Diego area, so they are all competing stores.
So, the use paper bags? Or, you have to bring your own reusable bags?
Paper bags are worse for the environment, btw.
Yeah, I take Wal-Mart bags to HEB, HEB bags to Whole Foods, Whole Foods' bags to Spourts and so on. I like the diversity. HEB also sells Spurs-themed bags here, so that's a nice touch for those of us who are fans of the Sliver and Black.
Have to pay for paper, but they are available. That was big when Austin first made the change, but now, reusable bags or no bags is pretty much the standard.
I'm thinking the 10 cents for reusable bags is wrong though. They usually sell for a dollar I think. It includes $2 million in loans to help manufacturers shift to producing reusable bags and lets grocers charge 10 cents each for paper and reusable bags.
