I thought Danny Green looked fantastic. It was all-star game defense, but he was putting it on the floor without dribbling it off his leg. If he can add a drive and finish he'll be deadly. He's also letting that 3 fly on the pull-up and the pump-fake, not just a set shot.

Kawhi's post-game looks to be featured more too. He'd get the ball mid-post and either drill a face-up J, or back the defender down. If he starts commanding double-teams like he did in this scrimmage, it will open up our offense to even another level, if that's possible.

Also, I started thinking about the Green/Kawhi defensive combo -- is there a better 2/3 combo in the league on defense? Has there been a better 2/3 defensive combo since Jordan/Pippen? Maybe Manu/Bowen?? Kawhi reached on a player (Manu once that I remember, but like 3 times total) who beat their man with dribble penetration, and Kawhi just stripped it with his gynormo-hands, poked it away, leading to a fast break opportunity. Couple that with Green's ability to lock down the other wing, and we have an amazing perimeter defensive combo.

It looks like Kawhi continues to make the leap, and Green continues to add dimensions to his game. This could be huge as Tim & Manu continue to decline.

Ive asked the same type of question about the Kawhi/Green defensive combo. If they're the best since Jordan/Pip defensively, then they're near the top of the list. IMO, their defensive dynamic is the most essential thing to this team. Funny how everyone talked about Spurs offense, it's really those two guys on D that I think have the most important role on the team.

Kawhi finally broke down and hired an anger translator.

I thought it was funny that the three players who are arguably the best Spurs were on one team, and the two best assistant coaches were on the other. Looks like coaching trumped talent last night. Really, though, Green going supernova is like the Spurs' Final Smash. There's nothing the other team can do if Danny's getting 24, most of it in the paint.

Video Highlights of scrimmage. Includes Kawhi's more perfected post, face-up jumper and at the very end a somewhat slow mo of "Slow Mo" Anderson.

I've been thinking the same thing recently. It becomes more apparent to me how big of a deal it was that Jordan/Pippen were such great defenders. Kawhi/Danny defensive combo is a big deal when you're guarding Wade/Lebron in the Finals, and Westbrook/Durant in the WCF, and a Curry/Klay or even Dirk/Parsons combo. They are setting the tone. And while Kawhi gets all the pub, others have pointed out on this forum that Danny Green's advanced metrics are in many ways better than Kawhi's.

We have two great perimeter defenders capable of shutting down skilled offensive players. Their growth on both sides of the ball will determine our success this year.

I think the only duo that can break through Kawhi/Danny defensive combo are Westbrook and Durant only.

And possibly Lebron and Irving now.

me to be excited like a girl over a scrimmage game

most interesting for me was Kyle

I liked the fact he played through the motion not forcing anything. For the rest he played like we could expect, definitely a good rebounder, handle well the ball, he is long.... but then his release is freaking slow and defensively... meh

Pretty good for a #30 pick. Will be our best pick since Kawhi by the way.
