Brady will be 38 next Aug. 3, and his contract is insanely team-friendly — if he is on the Patriots’ roster on the final game of 2014, his salaries for 2015 ($7 million), 2016 ($8 million), and 2017 ($9 million) become fully guaranteed, but at less than half the going rate of top-tier NFL quarterbacks ($20-plus million). That’s cheap money for the Patriots, but it’s also cheap money for a team desperate for a quarterback — like, say, Houston, where the coach (Bill O’Brien) is a close ally. Or, say, Tampa Bay, where the general manager (Jason Licht) used to work for the Patriots and is close with Belichick.

Couple years of Brady would be perfect for Houston while they find the guy for the future tbh. Do it, Rick.

Way too far in the future to make a call on this. I think he'd be worth a try, though. Especially for Houston, since Tampa should stick with Glennon if they continue to have anything resembling success.

I wonder how the trade market would look for Tom. What's his value in terms of draft picks?

I understand what you're getting at. Brady's probably going to bounce back something this season, and this thread will be moot. I have my doubts, though. The NE offense is simply a lot weaker than it has been for a while, and Tom is a little too old to carry it. I don't think he's slumping; I think he's seriously declining. But on a team with better players, he can still do his job. So I do think he can improve if he leaves the Pats for a Tampa or Houston, provided the OCs don't suck and coach to Brady's strengths.

People ignore the fact the Pats opened up with three of their first four games on the road. That is a biggie! That happened to them in 2012 and they were 2-2 then.

The Saints opened up in that same "spot", they are 1-3

    Others in that 'spot"

    Jax...0-4
    Raiders...0-4
    Packers 2-2
    Tenn..1-3
    Oak...0-4

If we look back over the years at that "spot' a 2-2 record is great.

We all saw them get their ass kicked in one of the toughest places to play in the league and being a Monday night game everything gets magnified. No the Chiefs aren't that good just ask Tennessee who beat them in week one. no the Pats aren't that bad.

Let's see how things go this week, if they get their ass kicked ..."at home coming off a loss***"...then they do have a problem.

*** a "spot" they have shinned in.

Fair enough. I doubt the Pats are even considering moving Brady right now. This will be an end-of-year kinda thing, and even so, I think their backup would have to look really good for New England to move on. The salary becoming guaranteed really isn't a big deal, as the Pats will be able to get out of it using a trade.

This thread is all I've ever seen/heard about Brady moving on.

Everyone freaks out over "early season" Monday night games, that's been going on forever. Now the Chiefs will beat the Niners because they looked so good and the Pats will get destroyed because they looked so bad.

Remember a couple Thursdays ago when the Falcons killed KILLED!!! the Buc's? So what happened the next game?

There's been more speculation. Brady himself seemed to hint at moving on in an interview he gave last week. I wouldn't say it's a big thing, but I think it may get there if the Pats miss the playoffs due to Brady underperforming.

I learned a long time ago not to put too much into the first 6 weeks or so. History has proven the reasons why.

All it takes is one big win and everything changes over night, that's the game. Same with a bad loss, as we are seeing.

After around week 8-9 then we start getting a pretty good read on things. After week 4..nay!

I don't know why so many people are convinced Brady is going to bounce back, tbh..

I'm not necessarily saying that he's finished, but his weapons are disgusting..regardless of whether you believe Brady is finished or not, even the biggest Brady supporter can't deny that he's no longer good enough to make ty players look good like he has done in the past..

There aren't more than 5 teams in the NFL that have worse offensive weapons than the current Patriots IMO(Raiders, Jaguars, ans..maybe arguments for the Rams/Jets/Browns?)..

Brady had over 4300 yards last season. Threw for 25 TD's with only 11 ints. He completed 60% of his passes and had a stellar 87.3 passer rating. All his stats superior to Andrew Luck.

Now all of a sudden, hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Julian Edelman was the third ranked receiver in the AFC, he's still there. Steven Ridley was among the top 10 AFC rushers, he's still there.

They started off playing back to back on the road, that's tough for anyone. Then the country saw them lay an egg on MNF. Now the over reaction.

No team in the NFL bounces back better than the Pats do. Only twice in the last 4 seasons have the Pats lost two in a row. And only once since 2007 did that lose a home game after losing a road game, the "spot" they are in this week.

This week vs a team many think are among the top three/four in the league will tell us a lot. This has been an historically strong "spot" for the Pats as we know them.

i just don't know if Brady would be as good on a team that doesn't have a dominant O-Line or a RainMan telling him what every defense is doing. Brady is dangerous when he gets his customary 5 seconds in the pocket, but I'm not familiar with Houston's Line. I know Texans don't have an autist like Ernie Adams pointing everything out to Brady. If Brady goes to another team and is badass, I'll gladly eat some crow.

...NE should just give Tampa Brady right now...payment for all the years they've raped our roster.
