So excited for this season. The Clippers are good enough to beat anyone this year, with the exception of the Spurs of course.

The Clippers are getting underrated on this board, they can beat the Spurs if they can figure out a way on defense. They have too many weapons offensively, and have a decent mid range game, which is a shot the Spurs are willing to give up. With Griffin's improvement from mid range, there isn't a person on the Spurs who can guard him (too strong and/or too quick).

The Clippers so far lack the discipline on defense to stop a motion like that of the Spurs, but they have a good coach and a season to build on it.

The spurs really aren't as much of a favourite as people make them out to be. OKC and the Clippers are obvious contenders, the Mavs are dark horses, and GSW are as dangerous as they come.

The Clippers need a Dragic kind of a point guard tbh. Paul is way too ball dominant for them to go deep in the playoffs. Don't forget he's incredibly injury prone (or he just fakes it in every damn post season).

I just don't think the John Stockton & Steve Nash kind of offense will not get you far in this era. Griffin's got to dominate for them to get past the Spurs & the Cavs tbh. OKC is a good matchup for them though. I think they will get past them this season.

Haven't we seen this movie before?

I don't wish any ill on the Clippers, but they don't have it.
CP3 is merely average in the playoffs.

CP3 is far from average. He had moments of mental lapses but overall he's been great in the playoffs.

We aren't beating the Spurs without a legit starting wing and Choke Paul playing like the role player he needs to be come playoff time.... a six-foot-nothing point guard overdribbling, playing Enriqueball and ignoring the true alpha of the team down the stretch isn't going to cut it, tbh....

That being said, all the work Blake has been putting in on his shot with Bob Thate is slowly starting to pay off.... Mavs fans may remember Thate as the shooting coach who turned Kidd into a perimeter threat, he's one of the best shooting coaches in the NBA.... for all the hate he gets, Blake has worked his ass off to improve his game every year....

Once his jumper starts consistently falling, he should work on his defense... he's shown flashes of good defense at times (I remember him guarding Dirk really well in a game or two last year), but he hasn't been very consistent....

its not. see farmer on the bench.

griffin's jumper though improved will be non existent once defense collapses and adjusts on him in the playoffs.

    This tbh.

Blake's improvement on his jumper? Wasn't this the script before last season started?

I see "he won't make any jump shots in the playoffs!" has become the new "all he can do is dunk!"

This except the obvious Chris Paul "shot" was one of your bests posts, real solid analysis of your own team and players ...where the is this guy the other 365?

Better jumper, but he hangtimes his jumpshot too much, at the apex of his jump.
He releases it as he's falling back to the floor.

No real use for that. It'll even lower your accuracy and shooting range.

They need less mode and more Ball IQ to give the Spurs a run for their money. They may be able to improve the BBQ some I think but they still will always be ass flop city as they are constracted with their leader flopping around like a fish to set the tone.

I am not totally sold on the Cavs, they have serious questions around their defense, and I am not sure how effective Irving can play without the ball (we can all agree that we would rather have Lebron with the ball most of the time).

I still say trade Irving and Waiters for a Lance Stephenson type player, a defensive big, and some 3&D guys.

That said, any team with Lebron is a contender. he really is that good.

Blatt is head of the JSIL snake in the US. Hopefully he'll be martyred or imprisoned before the end of the season.

Ah ok my b. I do remember him having success shooting in the okc/clip series though. I didn't watch the Warriors series to know if he was hitting then.

Lance is a locker room cancer tbh and for so many people lauding him as a defensive specialist, you wouldn't think so the way D Wade looked in the ECF.

I think the Clips may end up being the second-best team in the league this year if their young wings improve. Hawes was a much addition. But they match up horribly with the Spurs. The Spurs don't have to slant their defense toward Chris Paul, so there's really no space for the wings to get shots off. Blake is one of the top five players in the league, or at least top 10. He can do his part. But he's not enough when the Spurs have Duncan and Splitter to throw at him, and when Paul hogs the ball without beating the defense consistently.

If Jessica Alba's team can beat the Spurs, anybody can. And the Blazers are arguably the most talented team in the league.
