without Pippen, Jordan is nothing
Anyone know anything about this play? I'm guessing from Kerr and Kukoc's reactions that it might have been a gamewinner. I also wonder if this could have been the play that triggered Pip's back issues? He looked really hurt afterwards.

Without Jordan to push Pippen daily in those practices, I am not sure if Pippen would have evolved into one of the best perimeter defenders of all time. His length, speed and athleticism will probably allow him to still become one of the best defenders around, and his height and court vision will still allow him to be a fantastic coordinator though. I am not sure if he could be as big a star as he became, but he would likely remain one of the best players in the league during his prime.
As for Jordan, no way would he have won 6 championships with just a run of the mill all-star SF next to him instead of Jordan. Pippen facilitated the offense, locked down the best opposing wing player, and his driving game complimented Jordan's perfectly. Sure, Stern may give another dozen or so FTs to Jordan a game, but that loss would be too much for Jordan to go through teams like the Lakers, Suns, Blazers Knicks, Sonics or Pacers. There is a big drop in quality of SF during Pippen's prime, there was Glen Rice, Sean Elliott and Chris Mullin in the early days (you can count Nique and Larry Johnson, but I don't see how they would fit in with Jordan), then Grant Hill in the later days (and there is no way the Bulls would have gotten a pre-injury Hill). Jordan may not even win one single ring without Pippen, but then Pippen wouldn't have won a ring without Jordan either (unless he lands on another great team).
