exactly. rain = less curious geno.
It was an easy "spot' to see, but how do you back Geno Smith in the rain?
exactly. rain = less curious geno.
I turn on the game and it was..."well the rain has eased off for now but it will be back". Then I thought of Geno Smith and a wet ball. Nay!
No way the 'spot" favored the Pats.
if he consents, i don't see the issue
Yeah you're gay
What about the home teams on thursday night spot?
don't listen to the old man, he's senile. constantly contradicting himself.
Keep in mind I play these games with real $$$$. And if I'd known it was going to be just a few drops of rain I;m pulling the trigger. I got the impression a storm was coming.
Didn't the home team on Thursday night win the game?
Without Mayo and Riddley and the Jets in a "must" win situaton it went just like I said it would. The Pats with injuries and a hungry Jets team. Keep in mind we are talking a huge 9.5 line. The Jets were 3-1ATS last 4 vs the Pats.
No I don't so why lie?
Now you're lying, old man.
Ok week 7 plays
Giants + 6.5....classic case of a team coming off a bad loss vs a team coming off a big win.
Ravens -7....the Falcons are one of the worst road teams in the league, the Ravens a great HF.
Chiefs + 4....Andy Reid coming off a bye ...wow!
Niners + 7...are 4-1 heading into a bye week and the best road team in the league in the Harbaugh era.
Indy - 3....the Colts coming off a Thursday night vs a Bengals coming off a 5 quarter game, in Indy. Gotta love it.
Ariz - 3.5....the Raiders can't play two good games in a row.

In college football the "spot" or situation rarely matters. There we do see a huge difference in talent. Bama is beating Arkansas State 100 out of 100 times regardless of anything. That is not the NFL. You give the lowly Jags a couple turnovers and give up a big special teams play and if at home they can beat anyone. So you look for "spots" in the NFL that overwelmingly favor one team over another.
Some of these teams totally suck heading into a bye, some come out swinging after a bye. You need to know who does what. Who suck as a RD? How about great as a HF? You need that info.
The Pats were favored by 9.5 last night, the perception was they were coming on while the lowly Jets sucked. The real facts were the Pats aren't al that as a HF on Thursday nights vs the divsion...4-4, the Jets as a RD vs the division....6-2. Now add the importance of the game, the Jets had to have it, a must. So we saw their best performance so far this season.
The Giants were totally embarrashed last time out, they looked like . The Cowboys are now Superbowl bound, haha!!!!! Do you see it coming? Sure the Cowboys win the game but it will be close.
If I'm the Jets I stick Harvin out there as my speed receiver, something Seattle should have done. Stop with the multi talented thing.
Or they should use him at defensive end as a pass rush specialist.
got
I'll go slow...
A guy as frail as Percy Harvin would be useless on defense. But.....a back 220 pounds with 4.4 jets would make a great "situational" pass rusher. I've seen it done.
Now think little guy, how many backers have 4.4 jets, why not stick a speedy guy in there to rush the passer when it's third and 15?
oh yeah.... got.
The Jets did have Olympic 4th place 100m man Johnny Jones at receiver once upon a time.
Percy Harvin is fast but not all that, the Seahawks once had Michael Bates a 10.1 (Harvin 10.4) guy who was an Olympic bronze medalist in the 200m. They hardly used him for anything other than a kick returner.
Yeah...or you could just play in nickel and send a DB at the QB instead of doing something re ed like that.
More space for the small guy to pick up speed and get around the blockers and it's not obvious as . I mean , if I saw that I'd want to pull a guard over and see what we can get running the ball there.
yeah when avante first brought this up months ago i told him he was basically describing a corner blitz, but he refused to buy that
Nobody is talking about ......for the small guy...and I made that clear. Not talking about rushing a Trindon Holliday here...ok? Take a back up back, a guy with some heft or a big wide receiver and set them out wide. Good luck in a tackle being about to get out there and if he can have a backer right over him, so there's the hole.
The local JC in town used that idea. On third and long in came backs/receivers with more speed than backers/DE's. Worked like a charm and would work at any level.
I refused to buy it or talked about simply replacing big linemen with speed players in obvious third and long? You do know at the HS level most guys play both ways....right? You do know that Pitt uses running back John Conner as a DE...right? You do know that a lot of HS backs become backers at the next level...right? UCLA uses Myles Jack as a backer and running back.
Make it to where you must leave backs in to block these speed rushers, it's real obvious they will be blowing by big linemen. That's the idea behind it. And if you spread a tackle out, there's that gap staring at a backer.
Rookies....sheesh!

Electric football
Anytime you see it like in some commercial it's always as if everyone is going backwards and falling down and it's just stupid chaos. That wasn't how it was at all and anyone who played to game seriously as a kid knows that. It was very realistic.
