Mike Lange, Pittsburgh Penguins radio PbP guy...used to be TV but apparently he had trouble with the sauce. Regardless, he's still the best and most entertaining.
IMO, close battle between Marv and Al Michaels. While Marv is the greatest basketball voice of all time and Al wasn't worth two s when he called the Finals in 04 and 05, Michaels is ing legendary on the football mic and had success with baseball and hockey as well. I'll go with Al.
Least favorite: that got Houston Rockets play by play man, Mike Breen, Mike Tirico.

Least: Mark Jackson...If I hear "hand down...man down" one more time...I'll prob kill myself.
Favorite: Bill Schoening...pretty obvious to most Spurs fans. Sometimes if the game is on TNT....I'll sync up WOAI and the TV so that Bill is calling the game.

Least: Brent Musburger........dude just needs to retire. Yet, somehow he calls the biggest games of the year.

Favorites: Verne Lundquist (football), Stockton (basketball) from the '80s, when both of those guys were in their primes. The late Bill King, the great Bay Area play-by-play man, is up there. Chick Hearn was superb too.
Least favorite: Mike Breen. Just dry and colorless.
Howard Cosell... look at that little monkey run.
Collinsworth is solid, he's real knowledgeable when it comes to the cowboys

He doesn't do play by play, but I can't stand listening to Sean Elliott's voice on the Spurs broadcast
Love Sean the player, but there should be a Spurs fan drinking game revolving around his use of the phrase "top shelf".
I can't stand Chris Collinsworth and Mark Jackson. Two of the worst. Also, Reggie Miller.
Collinsworth is garbage, and so is Tommy Heinsohn
Heinsohn, Drexler, Carr (Cleveland), Elliott and Mike Rice (Portland) are my worst by far. It doesn't get any worse, seriously.

Technically....you're correct. But people like Mark Jackson, Van Gundy, and Cris Collinsworth.....they talk just as much as the play-by-play guy does. They should be eligible for this conversation. It's not like they're side line reporters that only talk once or twice a game....
