Danny Green being underrated per par. Hopefully no GM thinks he's worth more than MLE money next summer.

Also lol @ Chris Paul as a leader.

Kevin Garnett as a leader is far more egregious.

Oh yeah, and in before Chinook rants about Kawhi not even being the best perimeter defender on his own team.

GMs giving the Spurs a lot more love than many fans on this forum give them. Nice ratings. Thanks for posting.

I remember a few years ago when the Spurs would have ranked 30th in this by the GMs and virtually ALL sports writers.

One of the other categories was 'who among active players will make the best coach some day', and the primary vote getter was Chris Paul.

I would have voted for Manu, because I think that at some time he will be a terrific coach. Unfortunately for the NBA, I doubt that it will be in the U.S.

    At least no Kobe-votes there...

    Obviously, Danny is underrated.
He has similar numbers as Kawhi numbers (Leonard had an overall defensive measurement of 0.80 PPP Green’s overall defensive measurement was 0.81 PPP) -or even better on-ball defense- and he still doesn't get credit for that.
I laughed when Stein/Espn said Klay has dogged defense...what's about Green's defense??

We would have to ask ElNono ? Is his client after all...
I'd love Manu as Spurs coach, he has the brain, the heart, and the ability to adapt to any situation, other players can learn a lot from him.

Oh, what I meant was that Manu himself probably would choose to return to Argentina. I have no clue, and if Elnono knows whether or not his client would plan on staying in the U.S. after he leaves the NBA, I doubt that he would tell.

I agree that it would be wonderful to have him as Spurs coach, but I believe that the next Spurs coach is gonna be Messina. Why else would he come over here and give up a head coaching job in which he was spectacularly successful?

The GMs should watch the Clippers vs. OKC in last year's playoffs, then re-vote.

Agree, Messina could be the next, but imagine Ime, Manu and Becky as assistant coaches...it would be great.
And after the first few years of coach work experience Manu could be the head coach...however, I'd understand if Manu decides to return to his country after his retirement.

Manu has stated he will go back to Argentina once he retires (although I suspect that the fact his kids are growing up in San Antonio might derail some of that). He also said he doesn't see himself coaching, but rather on a management position. As the saying goes, never say never, but right now it looks rather unlikely.

Aren't some of Ginobili's children Americans? I mean, I imagine they're Argentine as well or at least will be able to get Argentinian citizenship easily. But that might affect how much Manu distances himself from SA when he hangs them up. He'll probably want to go back home and will probably do so. But it wouldn't surprise me if Manu eventually had another stint or two in the US after he stops playing, especially if the Spurs have a role for him in the organization.

How old are the twins now? Four? You are undoubtedly right about kids growing up putting a damper on parent's plans to move, but my guess is that the reality of that will incent him to move them back before they start school. No?

Anyway, thanks for sharing what he has said.

It's a complex situation. His parents and brothers all reside in Argentina, and it's not like they don't have the resources to move to SA if they wanted to, they just have a life in Bahia Blanca and that's where they want to be. Manu is a family guy, it makes sense he wants his kids to grow up with the whole family. That's kind of what you get from what he has said, but situations change, and Argentina is a country in constant volatility (I was there just 2 weeks ago, it's a mess), so you never know.
