I can't believe the poetic irony, tbh.

Nash literally ended his career trying to carry the bag.

Great news, tbh. We keep our pick this year and get to develop Clarkson.
I hope the Lakers trade rumors are false though.
Why do they get their pick back?

Big deal if you keep the pick. It's only top-3 protected in 2016 if kept. Lakers wrecked their future via the draft for TOSB Nash and it backfired.

This is true. As long as the Lakers keeps next years Top 5 pick, then it's fine. If I understand correctly, you get to keep Houston's pick for next year from the Lin trade as well?

What makes you think the Lakers would keep that pick? I thought they tried to trade their previous pick for Love? (This summer)

In 2013, the aging Spurs were an aging dynasty that was being consigned into oblivion. The Miami Heat, with their brand new Big 3, were the class of the NBA. While the Lakers, with their Big 4, were supposed to be the Western super team that was their archenemy. Those two superpowers were supposed to clash with each other in many NBA Finals for years to come, while the Spurs were to be relegated into irrelevance. It was time for the old guard to make way for the new game in town.

But contrary to everybody's expectations, something entirely different happened. The Lakers stumbled out of the gate and went through an injury plagued season, culminating in Kobe's torn achilles. The Spurs promptly proceeded to sweep them out of the playoffs in the most lopsided series (by point differential) in NBA playoff history, with Dwight Howard symbolically getting ejected on the last game of his Laker career. He then promptly bails out of Los Angeles on his way to Houston. A year later, Kobe suffers another season-ending injury, Nash still can't play, and Pau leaves in the offseason for Chicago, despite being offered more money to stay in Los Angeles.

The Heat, on the other hand, also fell victim to the Spurs in the most lopsided (by point differential) NBA Finals in history. The destruction was so palpable, it sent LeBron scurrying back home to Cleveland and completely ended the championship-era in Miami.

The old guard was supposed to make way for the new. The Spurs were supposed to quietly cede their throne to LA and Miami as they faded into irrelevance. Instead, they proved all the doubters wrong, and annihilated the Lakers and Heat superteams on their way to redemption and reclaiming the NBA championship that rightfully belongs to them.

What a beautiful story. Such poetic justice.

Isn't the pick only top 5 protected or something? Kobe should get enough food stamps to take you guys to the #7 pick again tbh.

Nash is a genius tbh. He knows damn well the Lakers aren't doing anything this season.

He knows he can't compete at the highest level with these young guys anymore.

He knows he can milk his injury(s) and still collect that fat paycheck every week.

He's going to get paid millions of dollars to sit court side and watch his friends hoop while traveling the U.S. on the company's dollar.

Just sit back, relax, get paid, and enjoy his farewell tour.

Best job in America right now tbh. Nash is a smart man.
