I am about to subscribe to the NBA League Pass. I don't live in SA anymore and I am sick of not seeing all the games. I am also cheap. I plan to do the lesser plan that only gives you five teams. Need advice on the final three teams. I am definitely getting San Antonio and Chicago. I already get most of the Mavs games where I live, so they are out. What would you go with?

    1. San Antonio
    2. Chicago

    On the fence

    Golden State
Charlotte - Their roster intrigues me for some reason.
    Phoenix
    Cleveland
    New Orleans
    Washington
Lakers - Be fun to watch until Kobe starts to malinger

Do yourself a favor. Skip League Pass and get BallStreams. About half the price and you get all games including ones on National TV in better quality.

I haven't yet figured out how to get non-coppy HQ stream from ballstreams. This is on a 50 mbit internet connection. Requires me to always go with the SD stream (since there's only two choices!), so the PQ is nothing special for me thus far. You haven't had this same problem Mugen?

I am cheap and will check out ballstream. I can't believe the NBA and TV Networks hasn't slapped lawsuits on them yet. How long has it been around? Thanks for the input.

They're set up in the Netherlands or some so it's a bit more complicated. They've been running their services for multiple years now, and they've had a hockey service too that has never had problems.

You can always get a short subscription if you want to test things out. Think they do 1 month subscriptions for like $15 or something. I usually buy 3 months at a time for $40.

I've only been using the SD stream as well but have found that to be superior to League Pass tbh. I read that there's a way to HD Stream through Ballstreams using VLC media player but haven't tried it yet.

Lakers are a must - that show is going to be comedy gold this season
GSW - fun team to watch
Washington/Atlanta - need an east coast team so all your games don't overlap

Using VLC is easy, but I didn't notice any improvement with HD stream playback in the couple times I've tried it. I'm sure I'll stick with ballstreams for the season, as LP is just such a ty product, but it's quite disappointing not to be able to get a watchable HD stream through their service.

What is y'all's internet like? I have 50 mbps up/50 mbps down and never have any problems. One thing though: I usually use Firefox, but for Ballstreams, I just use Internet Explorer. I think the add-ons and **** you might have in Firefox/Chrome can affect the streaming. If I try using Firefox, it'll sometimes be choppy. When I use Internet Explorer it works perfectly fine.

Does the stream skip? Like does it stop playing completely (sound too), or is it just choppy video? If it's the latter, try doing what I do and just using plain Internet Explorer. Make sure to close unneeded computer applications too (uTorrent, iTunes, etc.). If you're internet is good, you shouldn't have any problems.

I wasn't going to go with the Lakers, because they can't get worse. Then I realize Swaggy P hasn't even played yet. That should be gold.

50/10, though I am located south of the border. I'll do a speed test from the ballstream site when I'm not using my VPN later today, see what speed it get. But even using my VPN, I got 6-7Mb using the US-Central server, which you would think would be enough for a 3200 kbs stream.

I'll try IE. Haven't yet. Only tried Chrome and FF. For both I made sure to disable the addons they recommended disabling. I've also tried using the direct link to stream via VLC, but didn't notice any appreciable improvement. Basically, the feed is choppy, but sometimes the picture and audio will pause for a second, then skip ahead.

Without using my VPN, I routinely get 4-5 MEGABYTES download stream, so there should be more than enough headroom for ballstream feeds to stream without any choppiness, even being located SOB. Ni modo...

I'm also going with San Antonio and Chicago. I'll probably go with Cleveland, even though I have to connect through a VPN because I live in Cincinnati and we're in-territory. (We don't have cable by choice, or I'd get the Cavs games on Fox Sports Ohio.) I subscribe to a good VPN, so it works well. I'll probably wait on the other two until later in the year.

I'd like to add Golden State, but there's no way I would stay up to watch their home games, so that might be a waste. To be honest, I don't watch many non-Spurs games until the last few weeks of the season, when I will watch playoff-impacting games. I usually use up my last two spots at the end of the season. The last few years, it's been Spurs, Thunder, Heat, and wait until the end of the season to decide on the others.

why would you waste a LP spot on Lakers? You can watch ESPN or NBATV to get your laugh on ... I wont probably watch all 48 mins of most games this year ... and Im a diehard Laker. I record them all. Watch the first half plus firs 6 mins of the 3rd live. If we are getting blown out I watch the rest the next day cuz it's on usually pretty late.

Plenty of articles, highlights etc to watch Lakers suck. I would choose: your favorite team (insert) plus Cavs, Bulls, Rox/GSW and Mavs/Clips if you want to be entertained ...(good basketball)

The pricing is ridiculous on the 5-team package... Only $50 less than all of the games.

But if I went with that one, I'd pick Spurs, Pelicans, Bucks, Raptors and Warriors.

Just as a word of caution, ballstreams is almost certainly on the NBA's legal hit list. They're charging money for a product they don't own. They don't have a distribution deal with the NBA. The NBA doesn't get a cut of their profits.

I'd be shocked if the NBA isn't currently pursuing legal action against ballstreams — particularly as more people have been learning about it over the last few months. I'd be surprised if ballstreams still exists a year from now. If you pay for it, you won't get your money back when the site gets shut down halfway through the season.
