Boring... haven't played an online FPS with any regularity since Quake III Arena... after a while, they all play the same.
Modern Warfare is the last online shooter I've played tbh...all the other CoDs have been dirt
Granted less people use microphones these days but OWNING humans and hearing them complain and rage quit is one of the funnest aspects of FPS
I bought & prestiged in every COD from 2007 MW to 2013 Ghost last year
I actually played MW1 for s & giggles last year, it still held up. Not all that much had changed from the series in the span of 6 years. If not for the hackers, I would still play MW2.
Black Ops 1 (2010) & 2 (2012) had good/suspect aspects to it. Overall it was personal choice but solid. MW3 is what lost a-lot of the community because the Modern Warfare series was the meal ticket and yet they released a regurgitated game. And Ghosts mediocrity was the final nail in the coffin. I thought it was good but many people hated the switch to gigantic maps (Versus MW3 tiny ones). Overall I found it to be the most difficult COD since Pre MW2 and many people couldn't stomach that.
My overall complain with the current game isn't about gameplay. It is the fact players are split between PS3, PS4 & PC. Ghost saw a gigantic drop in players online. Lobbies started struggling in matching up players with me and I could no longer switch lobbies....there were no other ones available!
But most of my friends didn't bother switching to PS4 or stopped playing all together. My long time PS3 broke 2 years ago, I purchased a new one and when that pooped out a year ago, I put game consoles on the shelf for good. The only games I play these days are on PC: Civ 5, Sim City etc.

6 years later still a ing killer game; people will scoff me, but COD 4 MW and San Andreas were the Ocarina of Time of the 2000's.
I agree. Most people don't realize MW1 was released before World at War and when I played both recently, MW1 was superior by a wide margin.
^ Switch to 1080 HD
The only thing that can bring COD back to life is another World War 2 game.
I know you're a GTA IV hater but according to metacritic GTA IV is the Ocarina of Time of the 00's:

But seriously, CoD4 and San Andreas are easily on my top 5 all time games. Currently playing both games on my laptop after playing them for many years on consoles.
CoD4 is the complete package imo. Amazing campaign full of memorable moments (Nuke drop and aftermath, Chernobyl stealth mission etc.) and addictive and innovative multiplayer.

Don't see the FPS genre going back to World War 2 tbh, at least not anytime soon. It's all about trends.
Since the 90's until mid 00's you had World War II games, then came CoD4 in 2007 and everybody jumped on the modern era bandwagon and now it's all about futuristic settings with jetpacks, mechs etc. that allow you to take more liberties with the gameplay because you're not constricted by a real life war scenario.
What can you do with World War 2 that hasn't been done to death already?

This. Desert Storm time tbh.
I dont know anyone who likes that piece of GTA4 game
Though bucking all them s down at the airport in MW2 was dope too
Hahah speaking of
My GOAT class was AK-47 + Silencer + Extended Mags
Everything but the F2000 & L86 were dominant
I don't do MP, but the SP game is meh. Why does CoD think no SOF team ever gets inserted without a transport vehicle crashing, and the main character being pulled from a daze by some British got? It's been that way in every release, and you know if you're going in on an aircraft, you're going to be crashing.
For me, not since Unreal Tournament. It's the same people doing the same , internet cafe s glitching and warping and talk non stop. If a game doesn't have a good co-op/SP element, it's useless.
Mw2 was actually pretty goat till you ran into oma/nubetube combo dbags
