I fully understand this extension, but that`s way too much money for mediocre QB

    It's a one year guarantee.

    He's 15-6 with Arizona, 12-2 after a 3-4 start.

In that 12-2 stretch he averages well over 2 TDs a game and he's really kept his INTs down.

It's a gamble, but it's not like Arizona didn't revive another old QBs career all the way to a Super Bowl appearance recently.

not a bad deal at 20.5mil guaranteed through 2015 and then after that if his shoulder goes bum they can ditch him.

Being the Cards are where they are with a legit shot at a SB, this move makes perfect sense.

Had defensive health not abandoned them for this season it would make more, but at one year guaranteed, it gives them that chance again next year, after one more draft to add depth up front and at linebacker.

This looks like a terrible deal. I hope for the Cardinals fans I'm wrong, because they deserve a good QB.

Why is a one-year guaranteed deal terrible, when it's for a QB who's averaging almost 300 yards per game, better than 2 TDs per game to only about half an INT per game in recent 12-2 stretch, and 15-6 overall in tenure.

If he sucks or gets injured, his option is declined and Cardinals are clear of his entire CAP hit, which they will fit into just next season.

If you look past name, see his stats and record, it's a good deal.

I agree with most of what you're saying but I've seen Palmer do this before so his track record doesn't speak kindly. 20.5 is still too high imo but if he leads your team to the Superbowl then it's a great deal. Like you said, it's a gamble but I don't like the odds.

What's Arizona's option? This gives them the ability to be compe ive while developing either Thomas or another QB for another year or two.

Besides, Palmer has never had the structure or offensive coaching like he's had in Arizona.

Arians knows how to work with QBs: Manning, Roethlisberger, Luck... Now Palmer.

Damn that's ed up. Hopefully it's just a severe sprain or something. To have such a phenomenal start to the year and potentially lose your starting QB for the year is the worst luck.

Apparently this is the second time Palmer has signed a big contract then got injured within 10 days. Awesome.

    Next man up...

    Still nothing confirmed, though.

Cards fans believe in Stanton, but it'd be nice to get Palmer back sometime in the next two months.
