If Timmy and the Spurs can manage a b2b would he have a legitimate case as being 2nd GOAT?
TOSB is racking up those double-doubles like it's nothing.
If Timmy and the Spurs can manage a b2b would he have a legitimate case as being 2nd GOAT?
imo, yes.
221.
1 Wilt Chamberlain 23,924 2 Bill Russell 21,620 3 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 17,440 4 Elvin Hayes 16,279 5 Moses Malone 16,212 6 Karl Malone 14,968 7 Robert Parish 14,715 8 Nate Thurmond 14,464 9 KEVIN GARNETT 14,265 10 Walt Bellamy 14,241 11 TIM DUNCAN 14,020
He could maybe get up to 6th this season. Probably 7th though
People here mock Lakers fans for their borderline religious worship of Kobe, yet they do almost the same thing with Duncan.
Not that he doesn't deserve it, tbh.
Tim Duncan's rebound totals since the 2010/11 season (reg. season + playoffs):
2010/11 = 678 + 063 = 741
2011/12 = 520 + 131 = 651
2012/13 = 686 + 214 = 900
2013/14 = 721 + 211 = 932
Last season he got 498 rebounds more than KG. So yeah, it's a pretty safe assumption that he'll end up 7th all time at the end of this season. If he decides to do one more then, he'll end up between the 2 Malones at 6th all time. He'd need yet another one to surpass Moses and Elvin hayes and finish 4th (I wish it'd happen but I'm not too optimistic about the possibility of it happening).
Well there's your difference
No chance at 6th. That's 948 more rebounds for a player who averages 10-11 per game. There's only 73 games left, and Tim won't play them all, probably about 60 more. He'll come close to 7th, and may JUST squeek in. Also, as much of a TOSB as KG is now, he's still playing and accruing rebounds.
Does it count playoff rebounds?
+20 games for playoffs could do the trick
I'm pretty sure that playoff stats are kept completely separate. Otherwise, there would be a good team/bad team bias to career stats. The numbers in the original table are only regular season.
Stats.. meh
You pretend they don't matter in the RS then at the end of a career you pretend they do.
Lakers won chips before Kobe. Duncan was our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th...you never forget those. NEVER.
