Even if it's not Aggy, I think we will get a fun bowl opponent.
DeShon Elliott recently added "Trying to make ATX home" to his Twitter bio. Not sure it means anything, but I guess it's good considering these last few days rumors regarding him.
Article on how the SEC doesn't want the Aggies facing Texas in a bowl game. Says, "The Aggies have too much to lose". The loss they're refering to is the recruiting edge within Texas borders. Lol... This is the weakest I've ever heard... Especially coming from the conference that's supposed to be the "big bad wolf" of college football. I guess they'll tip toe around games for favorable match ups just so they can sell the perception of dominance. Hope recruits realize the scary they're doing.

ATH Jordan Cronkrite of Westminster (teammate of S Tim Irvin) MIGHT visit for the TCU game on Thanksgiving, per 24/7. It depends on Westminsters play-off run.
A quick quote from LB Darrin Kirkland, from 24/7.
“I’m looking forward to getting down there,” he said. “Coach Bedford has been a friend of mine since the beginning of my process when he got to Louisville, and Coach Strong is a great guy and I look forward to getting down there.”

Charlie Strong says Texas won't lose five games again
Saw this video tweeted to a few of UT's DB targets:
Inside Texas added that Coach Robinson is also putting out feelers with RB Corey Dauphine (committed to Tech).
He told the Port Arthur Memorial staff that UT wants him and an offer is forthcoming.

Killing that potential matchup isn't really funny. Actually it's quite sad. You'd think the team and conference that claims superiority would want to prove it on the field. Sad that the decision is about politics and marketing and not backing up the talk. I get A&M (and Texas) would have a lot to lose but that is what makes it compelling. The SEC is the top conference according to just about everybody so don't know why they would be concerned to be manipulating bowl matchups. One game will certainly not impact that perception.
I'm laughing at everyone taking this as fact. Especially people like Blake who always question sources.
Per OrangeBloods, 2017 QB Sam Ehlinger of Austin Westlake attended Texas' practice today:

Considering who Aggy is (the same insecure people who claim about 15 national and conference championships that they in no way earned), there is no need to question the source. It's quite obvious its fact.![]()

LB Cecil Cherry sounds like a commit in this latest Scout article:
"Coach [Charlie] Strong is an awesome man. He shows you what you have to do to start and plus he's the head coach and linebacker guy. He cares about his players not just on the field but off. He's a man of his word, and he understands the type of player I am coming from Florida and a little town called Frostproof. All I have seen my whole life is orange trees, and I am trying to make it out of here. Plus, he's a defensive minded coach and he loves the physical linebackers like me, like Ray Lewis."
"I have a chance to put the Cherry family name on the map. I am going to be the first to do it. Everyone might hate me for the move but as long as God and my dad and mom and family support me here I'm good. I am straight because I am going to play ball and big time players make big time plays."
"Hook'em. They stand No 1 for me. My game is physical, and I try to end career's that's what my daddy taught me since little league. The Texas staff and coach Strong I believe want killers like me and ball players. That's why he came to Florida to get some players, but people have to understand he's a black head coach that's the head coach for the Longhorns. He is going to turn that program around, and he did it everywhere he's been. It's no different, everyone knows what he's going to do and that's why people are scared of a player like me because I can make a big impact. Every where coach Strong has been the defense is strong and sets you up for the league not just to win a national championship. He doesn't just care about football he cares about your school work. He said you making plays speaks for itself, and I need players like you. I am going to make a big impact for my uncle Bobby Cherry, my dad, my mom and family and the people who supported me and for my little city of Frostproof, God and the world. They are number one and Hook'em."
"I try to end career's" - this dude is mean and a violent hitter. Along with Khalid McGee (check his hudl if you haven't already), Tim Irvin, and Kirkland you can tell Strong is planning on having a ruthless defense. I love it.
Surprise, surprise... Like we didn't already know this though.
It would be a complete catastrophe for them if they played and lost to us.
Truth or not, the fact is Texas would destroy the ags, they tend to quit when they get hit in the mouth and this is a Texas team that likes to hit.
Malcom Brown has been named one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski award. Brown is the third Nagurski finalist in school history, joining Derrick Johnson (2004) and Brian Orakpo (2008), both of whom won the award. The 2014 winner will be announced Dec. 8.
The other finalists are Senquez Golson (DB, Ole Miss), Gerod Holliman (S, Louisville), Landon Collins (S, Alabama) and Scooby Wright (LB, Arizona).
Update on 2016 RB Kameron Martin of Port Arthur Memorial (Scout):
“I just told [Coach Robinson] that I feel like they were playing around,” Martin said.
“He told me they weren’t playing around. He started laughing. I told him I was still committed to Baylor and he said, ‘We gonna get you. We gonna get you,’ and stuff like that. He was confident. He said he wasn’t going to stop recruiting me and that he was going to recruit me until the end.”
“Until I get that (Texas) offer, I’m staying solid to Baylor,” he said. “When Texas does offer me, I don’t know, things could change. I am going to keep my options open. But I’m still committed to Baylor though.”
“Yeah if Texas would have offered me at a young age I would have been committed to them,” he said. “They were my childhood favorite.”
