Random bump is random
Any fool that thinks the Spurs would have beaten the Heat in 2012. Maybe they matched up well with Miami but the Spurs weren't elite on defense yet because Neal/Bonner/Blair were still in the rotation and guys like Leonard, Green, and Splitter were nowhere near the productive players they are now. Plus Miami needed their redemption from the 2011 loss like the Spurs went through last season. No one was gonna stop them.
People really overrate that season when the Spurs just beat a ty Jazz team and an injured Clippers team that they matched up well with.
We beat who was put in front of us and had a 20 game win streak, not overrated.... We shouldve beat the thunder and to say we wouldnt have had a chance against the Heat is ludicrous
That was Meth City's high point. Now two of their Big 3 are broke and the other one plays in Houston.
The 2012 Spurs team was winning games with pretty porous defense if you'll recall. The win streak was all offense, all the time. Green and other role players went cold when pressured by athletic perimeter defense. Tony Parker was too much of a focal point and Sefolosha/Lebron types could shut down the whole offense by attacking the head of the snake.
While game 6 of the 2012 WCF was a sham, the Thunder fairly beat the spurs in the three preceding games. They were built to kill that spurs team.
The Heat team was better and hungrier in 2012. They win the finals either way.
Re-reading this game thread still makes me mad. What a bunch of bull that game was.
Agreed, never felt so cheated, because we literally got screwed out of the game
I'd rather not. I remember screaming my lungs out when Manu went god mode in the 3rd of game 5. I also remember being mad as during this game and depressed after.![]()
That Ibaka goaltend on Manu in game 5 was a ing joke. It should have been two points for the Spurs and then while Manu is on the ground the Thunder hit a 3. Big swing in the game on a blown call.
ing re ed refs. Thunder deserved what they got in the finals.
Who can forget that play where Manu drove and kicked to Green for 3 after Green released the shot Harden literally ran into Manu and fell to the ground. Instead of a four point play they called an offense foul. Easily the worst call I've ever watched. It happened right in front of the baseline ref too.
I kind of hope we play OKC in the first round healthy so there can be no excuses from their side when we beat them again.
The same call was made last playoffs. That non-goaltend call against manu also. these gots tbh, that's why it's hard to feel sorry for the ers and for the rockets.
I was about to bring up the same thing, the same happened this year, SHOCKER...
I remember this thread. Lefty almost took us to the promise land. I was at a high school graduation keeping up with the game on ESPN mobile. I was hesitant on watching the game cause I thought it would be a jinx. I tune in, the Thunder go on mini runs. my life.
That fourth quarter officiating is up there with the 2002 Kings-Lakers Game 6.
Are you kidding? While OKC won Game 3 fair and square, it took miraculous fluke shooting by Perkins / Ibaka for OKC to win Game 4, as well as a miraculous 3 by Harden over Ginobili (not to mention, an epic coaching failure by Pop) to win Game 5.
Add in the fact that the Spurs could've and should've won Game 6, and you can easily make the case the Spurs would've won that series 90% of the time.
Just because OKC had a fluke shooting performance doesn't mean they didn't win games 3-5 fairly. "Fair" is simply a judgment of whether their win conforms with the rules and standards of the NBA, and fluke shooting does not run contrary to the rules and standards of the NBA. The spurs have won many games themselves on the basis of fluke shooting. Bad officiating, on the other hand, does run contrary to the rules and standards of the league. Game 6 is the only game of that series completely tainted by such poor officiating.
Do you think the Spurs would have lost a game 7 at home? I dont think so, and I dont think the league did either, which explains the absolutely blatant rigging and desparation by the refs in this game to put us away.
Dude is always getting away with goaltends because of his reputation as a great shot blocker. The refs are blinded by it. It's infuriating.
It's still does not support your opinion that they would have beaten Miami in the Finals though.
It honestly would have come down to how Green, Manu, and Tim performed. If they all had big series we would have had a good chance because we would have had home court (a fact I think you are forgetting). And I think we can both agree we could have easily gotten that series to a game 6. And even if we were down 3-2 coming back from Miami, I like our chances to win 2 in a row at home.
