Tim Duncan B

Timmy was 3 pts and 3 assists away from getting a triple double at age 38. Amazing. I gave him just a B even with that balanced statline because it felt that Tim didn't have too much impact in the game, he just attempted 5 shots(3rd lowest in the team). You can say that he was passive but to be fair with #21 this was a game that he could have rested and the Spurs would have still won handily.

Kawhi Leonard B+

Kawhi finishing the game with 21 points and 9 rebounds, not bad at all. Although he gave up the most turnovers of the team, B+, the Nets weren't really able to capitalize on them making it a useless stat in a game in November. Kawhi was also great in the defensive end especially against Johnson which shot 5-17 from the field. But these performances of Kawhi against these kinds of teams are quite expected from him imho, he should really be able to feast on those wings, if he's the max player that we make him to be, so take it for what it's worth.

Boris Diaw B

Bobo was Bobo in this game. Pretty well rounded statline as you can see. Like I have been saying this year, Bobo should be given the green light to facilitate the offense more. He makes everyone around him better, especially when he plays with Kawhi. They seem to compliment each other so well.

Marco Belinelli C+

Spaghetti's second game back(?), he didn't convert his only 2 attempts but to be fair he just played a team low of 10 minutes(not including garbage time of Ayres). Not much to get from this game from Marco really but +8 and 3 rebounds in 10 minutes? Decent.

Tony Parker A

MVParker's second straight game of looking like 2013 playoff form. Leading the team in points, minutes and +/-, a game high of 7 assists and shooting 50% from the field, TP more than held his own against Fat Wil.

Danny Green A

After 13 games, Danny finally came back in the offensive end. Shooting at an absurd 8-10, 5-7 threes from the field is just refreshing to Spurs fans eyes. We all know what DG has been bringing to the defensive end, in fact his D is one of the reasons why we have this good record despite the awful offense starting the season, but in this game DG reminded Spurs fans how elite he can be from both sides of the floor.

Manu Ginobili C+

Like Beli and Tim, nothing much to take away from this game from Manu's play. His minutes getting regulated at 24 this game, he didn't have too much of an impact. But C+ because he had 5 points, 3 boards, 4 assists and made both of his only 2 attempts in the game.

Aron Baynes B

Just playing for ~21 minutes, Big Banger managed to put up respectable stats with 10 points and 8 rebounds. I thought he also made the most out of it by converting 50% of his shots. Although iirc he had one brainfart moment when he missed a point-blank shot.

Austin Daye B for Bricks

Dude continues to suck. 1/6 from the field esp 1-4 from a supposed to be 3 pt specialist. How can you have the lowest +/-, -8, when you played most of your minutes with the starters?

Pop B+

I liked how Pop adjusted by putting Beli in the starting line up. Mainly because he felt the need to add DG in the 2nd unit as CoJo was injured and the bench's defense would have been toast if it was Belinelli coming off the bench with Manu as the back-up pg. Also, big plusses from me for playing Kawhi and DG with 36 and 33 minutes respectively.

All in all

It was a good game but the Spurs just did what they were supposed to do. Like I said from the Cavs game, this team is just too deep to be stunted by injuries early in the season. They always find ways to adjust and no matter how the game went I felt that they always had control, but then again it's the Nets so there's that.

Putting in a lot of effort on the defensive end can affect your shooting. I think that could be playing a part in some of the player's shooting struggles.

I dont know. We're still missing big pieces in Splitter (PnR points) and Mills (shooting). Those two guys could give you 20 points combined each night.

Not bad with the grades. I do disagree with the Duncan grade though. Its hard to say he didn't really impact the game when he lead the Spurs in Rebounds, Assists (got his 7 before Tony), Steals, and Blocks. He just didn't force the issue on offense, and didn't need to with guys like Green starting to come out of their shooting funk.

Finished my school readings and then realized there hasn't been a game thread yet. It's also rare that I get to see games live due to school so I make the most out of it.

I'm strictly talking set shots and jump shots. If you've got tired legs from playing defense then that can affect your shooting.

I'm not talking about the offense as a whole. That probably won't function at a peak level until everyone is healthy and back.

Agree with your reason. Maybe a way to get Beli's rhythm back, too.
I don't think Pop repeats the Marco-starter experiment this season while Danny's 3's are falling.

Contrary to this, Danny has been saying that when his shots dun go in, he needs to focus more on defense to get back the rhythm, and shots will start falling.
