Past 7 games: 7 steals and 16 blocks..

On the season, averaging 1.1 SPG and 1.4 BPG, so far in the small sample size..

It'll be interesting to see if he can maintain this pace all season..I don't think any guard in the modern era has ever done the 1 SPG/1 BPG in under 30 MPG IIRC..

I am fumining here, WTF is the point of playing Marco? the less time Green spends on the court, the more vulnerable the spurs are and more prone to runs..it's not like the italian adds a different dimension...WTF

    20 minutes..WTF

danny should be playing no less than 26 minutes..

20 freaking minutes..are you kidding me?

I don't mind the minutes for Belinelli, he desperately needs to get in rhythm, he's literally useless if he can't make wide open 3s..

People who think Leonard's been anywhere near the defender Green's been this year are crazy. Danny's been unreal so far. He's tied with Duncan in VORP despite not being a great rebounder or HoFer in general.

He's averaging 13 pts, 3 blocks in the last 4 games(since he was almost benched-> 25 min vs Cleveland), now he's rising. As if his spark is being ignited

I find it amazing for the front office to see his talent while he was on the bench of Cleveland.

I don't think it's arguable, so far this year..

All his defensive metrics are elite, and 82 games.com(which has a flawed method, but still mostly accurate) has his opponent's PER at 6.7 and 9..

It sucks for the Cavs and Clippers that they can't acquire Green, because he's exactly the player that they desperately need to fix their flaws and become the le favorites..

To me this year Danny is playing much better defense and he is finally hitting the outside shoot. The biggest thing I have notices is his ability to finish at the rim he is doing a great job of taking it to the rim and not loosing the ball or getting his shot blocked. He even seems to have worked on his dribble because he is not turning the ball over as much.....I hate comparing players but he is starting to remind me of Bowen..

Danny Green is an elite defender and catch and shooter. That is not debatable. I love the damn guy so much the things I've noticed this season are (additions to his game) the curl jumper and his drive and kick or pass (wonder if this was messinas call)

He's a far better player than Bowen ever was on the offensive side of the ball, and rapidly catching up on D. Bowen was almost exclusively a corner 3 point shooter, and I shuddered when he got run off the line and put the ball on the floor. Danny has always shot from the entire arc, but between the 11-12 and the 12-13 seasons, his range went from the arc to about 3 feet beyond the arc all the way around. He's just a cold blooded assassin that you can't leave open anywhere.

Not to mention his ability to pull up in transition or if defenders go under a screen. Offensively Bowen was like a smaller bonner who was limited to corners

Gerald Wallace had a couple of seasons averaging over 2 steals and blocks per game I think. Not a guard obviously, but a wing too.

There have been other wings that have done it recently(Kirilenko IIRC, and Wade probably did it), but not in under 30 MPG IIRC..if Green wasn't splitting minutes with Manu, he would easily hover around 1.5/1.5 IMO..

This. Danny's offensive game (even driving to the basket when run off the line) has improved dramatically. He was really the hero of Game 1 vs. the Heat last year. And his defense is nearly on par with Kawhi's if a little more limited in positions he can guard. Still with Green and Leonard, I honestly think we have the best pair of perimeter defenders in the league. Really hope we can resign Danny next summer.

Surprisingly neither of them has done it, Kirilenko came close once, Wade never got anywhere near 2 blocks per game.

Well, the other guy has elite defensive stats, too...even better according to them.
    Def:
    Kawhi=0.98 and 77.9
    Danny=1 and 91.7

Often, people call other guys crazy just because they can't see the game from any perspective other than through their own eyes

Crazy is dismissive? Nah the guys who think that about Leonard are cool if they're called crazy, they're in good company and some good numbers supporting them.

3 steals and 1 block today..

It looks like he has made significant improvements to his inside-the-arc game, too..the pick&roll pass, the drive&pass inside, the mid-range J and the floater..unfortunately, if he looks like this all season, that price tag is going to be expensive..

Fortunately he's still not known around the league for his elite defense and his streaky shooting may be able to keep the price down. But man, we're lucky.

His metrics(which is what NBA front offices use more than anything nowadays) are all elite, NBA teams have scouts and a ton of tools in 2014, they're all fully aware, they don't use the opinions of mainstream "analysts"(the Barkleys and Millers) and casual fans..

The only reason his price could be reduced is because of his age, since he's useless for teams that aren't aspiring contenders in win-now mode..I don't know the cap situation for other "contenders", but if a team like the Cavs has any cap space, they'll give him as much as possible IMO(especially since he's close with LeCoon)..

I think we'll probably see him and the Spurs agree on a fair deal IMO..

Green has been nothing short of amazing this year defensively. I'm not sure there's anyone I'd rather have in transition tbh.

I do wonder what his price tag will look like. You have to imagine there will be lots of contenders going after him...he's basically the perfect role player and he'd fit in just about anywhere. A team like LAC could really use him. I really hope we can keep him though.

Well, looking at a few teams that he would help elevate and would fit well with:

    - Atlanta(have to re-sign Millsap, and will probably choose to keep Caroll, a worse version of Green that will come cheaper)
    - Cleveland(probably the most likely IMO..have to see what happens with Love/Lebron and when they inevitably trade Waiters this season)
    - Indiana(a lot of contracts are finished this year, we'll see if they plan to contend again next year)
    - Clippers(100% what they're missing, but they can't make it work with their cap situation IIRC)

Detroit would have been a possibility since Van Gundy is obsessed with spacing, but they already overpaid for Jodie Meeks..

New Orleans would work, too, but they have the massive Eric Gordon albatross..

So, the compe ion works in favor of the Spurs..Cleveland seems to be the only team that could challenge, unless a random team overpays IMO..

Hopefully the Spurs worked their mind control voodoo and he pledges allegiance to the organization (cult) for the rest of his career, while of course being paid under market value
