Seems like in crunch time it goes to the Big 3, would good reason - they are clutch. Do you think it helps the Spurs long term that Kawhi isn't demanding for more or hurts the Spurs long-term because if he does not get significant time in crunch time (in the sense of game-winning shots, playmaking with the ball since he will be the leader before long?

He is still learning to be productive when trying to create, much less game winners. Give me a few years.

Should trade him for Iman Shumpert while his stock is high, tbh..maybe they'll throw in Cole Aldrich, too..

What I started... oops. I've been having to tell my Knicks fan colleagues and friends that Landry Fields and Iman aren't the second coming for years now. I knew that franchise's current incarnation was a fraud when I went and saw the offensive juggernaut Pacers carve them up in the playoffs in '13.

ya, I saw that you and I discussed it earlier in that thread..I lived in NY for half my life, I know how it is..

To be fair, their fans and media are finally more cautious about overhyping players, nowadays..they learned from Frye, Fields, Shumpert, etc..

Long term his role will continue to expand. In the short-term his role helped us win a championship last year.

After his extreme dedication & growth, his vastly improved outside shooting, his top tier defense, his finals MVP, and the praise he receives from teammates, coaches, and analysts, it's awesome that Kawhi is still questioned by members of Spurstalk.

To answer the question: It Helps. It helps when any player knows his role.

As long as he cannot create for others he won´t be handling end game situations.
    Simple as that.
He is still having more and more shoots in the last five minutes anyways.
And i think his post up plays should be more consistent. I was happing he was being post up against Hayward against Utah, yet he failed to convert in 2 of his 3 tries in the fourth.

He can create for others, has been all season long. Problem is guys haven't knocking down their 3pters or shots (many passes are to Baynes, Cojo, Belli etc.). San Antonio already has their defense down, which usually they don't do until the ASB, once everyone gets into a rhythm and starts knocking down their wide open shots, they'll blow everyone out of the water.

All Leonard really has to do is post or drive, draw a double, kick out, Spurs passing takes care of the rest breaking down the defense. If you look at Parker's passes, that's pretty much all he does, Manu/Diaw are clearly the superior passers and have much better court vision. Parker can only really create shots that are already there, guys like Manu/Diaw create shots that aren't there. Leonard can easily fill Parker's play making role, because it really isn't anything special if you draw enough defensive attention. Spurs also don't put Leonard in many P&R situations either, which he's done very good with this year.

By mid season or so when guys start knocking down their assists, I expect Leonard's assist numbers to jump all the way to 5 or so per game, that's what he should be averaging right now if they were actually knocking them down.
