As you know I'm with Robbers.
They have the trade-up program, and according to their trade-up online calculator, my S4 is worth 100$ (amount that will be credited)
So I'm thinking about getting a new phone TBH (of course the caveat is that I will have to renew my contract, but I can't afford to pay full price for a phone lol)
- 100$ flagship phones Robbers is offering are Kimchsung S5 and Xperia Z3 (I wish they had the Z3 Compact though, perfect size and great specs)
- Good 0$ phones are LG G3 and Nexus 5
I could save the 100$ credit for later if I get the G3 and N5, but the G3 is ing big and I dont care for its back buttons; as for the N5 , I'm not the biggest fan of Stock Android and the phone is a bit outdated (but the size is right); I'm not sure about its build quality either
Xperia Z3 is bigger than S5 but the Z3 looks sexy tbh
Don't get me wrong, my S4 is still running great, but I've had that annoying dead red pixel in the middle of the screen for a while (my fault) and screen replacement is like 250$; and if I can upgrade earlier for "free", why not .........
So what should I do?
Bonus question: since you run stock Android, do you like using on screen navigation keys? DO they sometimes get in the way of the keyboard?
Personally I like the home button on the Samsung phones, sometimes I use to wake up the phone
1) Kijiji that ing S4. No reason you can't get $200 cash for it. Do you HAVE to trade up or can you just renew the contract?
2) I ultimately didn't get Z3 because a) $700 + tax off contract b) didn't like the feel in-store
3) Went with S5 I got new for $420, may find even less on kijiji
4) You have the option of have on-screen buttons or not with stock Android ROMs. I don't have them on.
I'm never going on contract again. Using my corp 3 year plan month-to-month until I can't anymore.
1. I dont think I'll get a lot from Kijiji with that ing red pixel stuck in the middle of the screen; I'm not eligible yet for a renewal, but the trade up allows me upgrade/renew
2. Yeah just read some reviews of the Z3 and the build quality is meh, you better not drop it
3. I dont think Ill get enough from Kijiji for the S4 (see#1) to buy the S5 at 400$ (it has to be a $ match, I'm not paying an extra dime for a new phone); but yeah obviously, I would still get more than 100$ on Kijiji.

I also checked the Kijiji prices in Montreal for both the S4 and the S5, and I would be losing money (around 200$)
Especially with that ing pixel (unless someone stupid enough is willing to pay a lot despite the pixel)
Are you on a 3 year or 2 year contract? because you have to factor in that the 2 year contracts now are ing expensive ($85/month for 1GB)
If your current plan is cheaper, then why not take the $200 hit now and get a good phone? You may pay more in the long run if you get a new contract.
For instance, I pay $50/month for 3GB data plan. $35 x 24 = $840 more over 2 years for that ty 1GB plan from Robbers.

Im on a 2 year contract tbh; and Im not sure if Robbers is still grandfathering plans
I can't afford to take a $200 right now TBH (and yes I kow that in the long it would be cheaper).
Also, I dont have a backup phone, so timing wise, I would have to sell and buy pretty much on the same day

damn you guys get hosed. att ran a promo a couple months back to double data - i pay $185/mo for 4 iPhones, unlimited mins/msgs, 30GB data. I get 23% off but that is still a decent deal without the discount

After doin some thinking, Im gonna stick with my S4 ,despite the dead pixel, for as long as possible.
(And the S5 is even bigger that)

A buddy of mine has a cracked screen on his S4 , he is in no rush to replace it tbh
And he wants to go off contracts anyway
