Everyone but Eric Nahlin says we're not getting Kirkland. Bobby Burton went so far as saying a source told him he was more than 90% sure it wouldn't be Texas.
Just to clarify, it's not really a "source". It's Steve Wiltfong. He is one of 24/7 National Recruiting Analysts. He lives in Indianapolis, and he is, apparently, the only reporter to speak directly with Kirkland or his parents, since Kirkland went silent on Monday. Bobby also said that Wiltfong has, by far, had the best grab on Kirkland's recruitment.
2016 OL Parker Boudreax from Florida. Texas made his top 24 (?). A few surprise schools in Georgia Southern, SMU and Syracuse. I wonder what he'll do if Alabama offers.
According to some folks on Shaggy, this same guy said Gentry would be a Vol and that Cherry would never decommit from Tennessee.
EDIT: I should clarify. Unlike most people, I won't fault a guy who's in the business of forecasting for being a wrong every once in a while — that's the nature of the business. But if Steve was wrong about two prospects torn between the same two schools in the same year, that suggests to me an anti-Texas and/or pro-Tennessee bent. I don't have a LinkedIn profile so I can't see where he went to school, but his profile does say his home office is in Tennessee, so I'd guess there are some connections to that program that are coloring his analysis.

Higdon of Scout hasn't given his pick on Kirkland, but you're right that most everyone is betting on Tennessee.

I don't know him well enough to know what's up and down with him. I just prefer to get a name on a "source", whether it's a guy close to the recruit or a Recruiting Analyst. But, basically, everyone was wrong with Gentry. I don't know Wiltfong has said regarding Cherry. His LinkedIn profile says he has worked for the South Bend Tribune for almost 5 years and the ESPN Notre Dame affiliate Sports Daily for 5 years. My bet would be Notre Dame or Indiana. Regarding his home office in Tennessee, I wouldn't put too much stock in that. 24/7's Headquarters are located in Nashville, I think Bobby lives in Nashville as well.
But as I said in the beginning, I don't know Wiltfong well enough to know what he has said earlier or if he has any pro-/anti-agendas towards any school. But I just prefer to get a name on guys who's been labelled as "sources".

I don't know if you saw what Burton wrote yesterday, but Wilfong spoke with Kirkland's father after all of the in-home visits were finished and he came away with the impression that they were all Tennessee and Texas was a longshot. I didn't know Wilfong was wrong on Gentry, though. We'll see what happens Monday.
