Everything played right into DK's hands tbh. He came at the peak of the Magic-Bird rivalry and went right at the Celtics. Stern milked the rivalry and had to contend with the Pistons for a couple of years before DK's rein. With the fundamentals and the sociopath nature, DK had no rivals.
Kobe on the other hand couldn't Daddy. And by the daddy left town, Duncan was alphaing his way to reg season mvps, finals mvps and championships. Sadly, the two rings Kobe won without daddy will not surpass him over Duncan.
