In all honesty, has Pop ever yelled at Belinelli, tbh?..For a player that misses so many rotations and can't stay in front of anybody, you would think he would be getting killed by Pop more often..

Pop knows what he has on Beli, tbh... he had no qualms in benching him when it was clear he couldn't help in some playoff series.

that's the part that pisses me most, although it makes total sense, no use in yelling at someone with no room for improvement.

Pop once said to him "Do You Want to Play?" during a timeout after Belinelli was playing poor defense. He is still better than Neal was.

Hard to see Belinelli falling out of the rotation completely, unless Pop goes with a Mills,Cojo, Manu, Diaw and Baynes lineup. Or starts giving Green KLs backup minutes in addition to his 20 minutes at the 2 guard come playoffs.

He's so clearly better for this team then Neal, it's really not an arguable point.

Anyways, no chance KA should have been playing down the stretch over Beli. Now, Beli over Green, for that last play? That was an arguable call. But ni modo. Regular season and all.

You really wanna say Neal is a better defender than Belinelli is. Beli isn't great or even good at that end but when Neal tried he was still below average.

At least Beli has been a Net + player is his time with the Spurs

    Neal
    10-11- +1
    11-12- 0
    12-13- -6

    Belinelli
    13-14- +9
    14-15-+8

You can't cherrypick one game for +/- stats: http://www.82games.com/1415/1415SAS.HTM

At this point Belinelli has Anderson beat in that department.

KA is already better than Beli, you're in denial if you think otherwise... He gets steals, deflections, rebounds and passes the ball as well as anyone, now that he's making shots it's not even close.

I hope Kyle continues his development. Beli will probably get a longer rope because of his experience. If there is a consistent lack of effort by Beli, Pop will sit him. I'm pretty sure Marco is putting forth a decent amount of effort.

BTW, Marco is way more of a good fit for the open flowing offense than Gary Neal, who is a one trick pony. BTW, I liked what neal did when he was here. An in shape Patty Mills is a much better version of Gary Neal (and younger too).

bump, 103.9 drtg only ahead of anderson and ayres on the team, and way behind austin ing daye.. 6 with elite drtg, 2 with above average, 1 with average and only 1 with below average despite playing with elite teamates (green, manu, cojo, kawhi, duncan)..

They're both equally horrible defenders. According to 2013 Defensive RAPM:

    -3.21 - Neal
    -3.12 - Marco

There were only 11 guys in the entire NBA that played worse defense than Neal last season. Only 13 that played worse defense than Belinelli.
