Clipper Nation Clipper Asian I know you once posted a The Underachievers track, so...
The Mahdi is ing solid
First single from Thugged Out Pissed Off:
Classic Seattle hip hop from back in the day, long before that got Macklemore ever touched a mic:
Excellent post, thank you.
J. Cole bullying s in the paint once more
Solid album
Fire squad is up there for best rap songs of 2014
Second album he did without any got Drake in it, splash, wham, boom, etc etc.
Born Sinner was also solid, imo that album eclipsed MC+HG, which I think was a huuuuuuuge letdown for an album that was hyped so much, and Yeezus, which was essentially garbage from Kanye.
The thing that irritates me with MC+HG is that the beats were subpar and it threw off the whole album. The masterful lyricism of HOVA became because of the beats which, I felt, were out of sync. Turns out the best beats of the album were already in that Samsung commercial with Rick Rubin, Pharrell, etc.
bought 5 copies of the new j cole album off the strength of his support during the recent deaths in ferguson and new york. he also spit some hot fiyah at the culture vultures on fire squad
History repeats itself and thats just how it goes
Same way that these rappers always bite each others flows
Same thing that my Elvis did with Rock n Roll
Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore
While silly s argue over who gone snatch the crown
Look around my s white people have snatched the sound
This year i’ll prolly go to the awards dappered down
Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile
im just playing, but all good jokes contain true sh*t
same rope you clime up on, they hang you with
I found MC+HG to be a big letdown as well. The album doesn't hold up to multiple listens either. The song i did like (Oceans and On The Run) got a bit annoying because of radio play or because it came up to much on my shuffle. Atleast BBC did have [King] NaS and Jay-Z Blue was a solid deep cut. The album felt trendy. Same could be said for Watch the Throne (the best two songs were the first two singles, HAM & Otis). Jay-Z's last great album was American Gangster, criminally slept on, best songs were No Hook and Say o.
Kanye's Yeezus had moments but for 10 tracks, I expected at least 8 to be great. Besides Blood on the Leaves, Black Skinheads and maybe I am A God the album was mediocre at best. Dark Twisted Fantasy was far superior but College Dropout has yet to be topped ,IMO.
Never been a big fan of Cole. He has talent and I did like Who Dat. Born Sinner slowly grew on me. His newest was solid, refreshing to not rap for the radio (no singles).
Its gotten to the point where I only listen to a handful of rap artist now with the decline.
Wale, NaS, Kanye, Eminem (slowly heading in the wrong direction after Relapse),Jay-Z, Lupe (currently hit or miss),Jay Electronica, J. Cole etc.

Up there for verse of the year, just filthy. He seems cool with being different. Most rappers nowadays wouldn't take the time to have a social conscience. Talib Kweli was marching down there and Jay Electronica, Common and Lupe are pretty conscious about that stuff as well.
BTW to be fair to Elvis he gets ripped for stealing black music but he was probably trying emulating it. Due to the time he was viewed for stealing black culture but he was probably inspired by them. He's okay in my book because Hendrix was a fan of Elvis. and some of his stage mannerisms were inspired by Elvis. Clapton and Zeppelin both borrowed extensively from black musicians but have caught virtually no flack for it.
Sorta interested to see if Ludacris' EP (free google play on 12/16) wll be any good. Last couple of albums have been gargage. He's always been an underrated rappper but can't make a consistently solid album to save his life. 6 songs would be perfect for him instead of 15 with 7 filler/single cuts
I've heard bits of Tetsuo and Youth and I don't have a lot of high hopes for it. None of the tracks he released blow me out of the water. Lupe is starting to sound like a sell-out.
Have you listened to the Madonna track from him? It has stupid autotune. Are you even listening to your work now, Lupe??
All the other "singles" from T&Y were axed. Deliver is finally the first official single. And its pretty impressive.
