I'd imagine you're going to continue seeing basic concepts until Manziel actually has a better grasp of the playbook.

There's been a mix of running from the pistol and more traditional formations, neither have been overly successful.

The biggest takeaway here is that you can expect more creativity when they can't execute basic.

    He's not anything special, tbh.

Disappointing but it will be overblown bc of how bad Cleveland played in all facets. Some poor decisions and timing issues that should improve with time. Re s will go with the 'lol monkeyball' analysis but his ability to extend plays is clearly a positive.

his problem is his reliance on his ability to extend plays. he struggles to execute a simple dropback-pass

He needs to find a balance. He had happy feet at times, other times his receivers just didn't make the catch after he extended the play.Your usage of the word reliance has always been re ed. It implies that that makes up the majority of his game.

im not even implying it i'm outright saying it

he hasn't shown that he can be an effective player from the pocket

You said the same re ed about his game in college.

In college he was fine from the pocket. In the NFL, no he hasn't shown it after a grand total of one game.

i said it then and i'm still saying it now. as a passer, he's a mediocre prospect. my opinion hasn't changed.

he doesn't have a weak arm, and he's not horribly inaccurate... but i dont think he knows how to play quarterback, at least in an NFL offense

he had some drops to be fair, but his second pick was literally everything we knew he was ... scrambled and threw a horrible, late ball up for grabs in the middle of the field

Nothing about the way he played today shows he will be a decent to good quarterback. He is everything every scout that didn't draft him said he is (i.e. too short, too undisciplined, poor pocket passer, etc.) Deal with it already and admit you were worshiping a false messiah.

One game. As we've learned from yall and the Clowney vines, it's best to wait before coming to a conclusion either way.

Clowney may or may not be a bust. The guy never played a complete game fully healthy to make any kind of assesment as we saw out of Fooseball today, besides Clowney never got the amount of slurping Fooseball gets from his fans and the national media.

So all you need is one game and you'd know whether Clowney was good or not?

Yes, if you're looking to assess if he has enough skill and god-given talent to play at this level. Fooseball just showed that he has no business playing at this level.
