The lead needed to be 10+ imo. This is still a loss but you can't but help feel proud of the effort. Severely undermanned, coming off two straight triple OT losses.

Horrible end to the quarter. Classic Spurs. Give up big leads in less than a minute.

Mavs should really be ashamed of themselves being down by any margin to the Spurs C team, or maybe the Mavs aren't that good.

Yeah, NBA teams run sets against man to man defense. They don't practice running zone offense but on this level, like I said, a zone should be carved up. This is of course even more so if you have the athletes and shooters to do it.

Pop's zone looks like a hybrid between a typical zone and a help man to man.
Yup, thats why it should be practised during the regular season, to be used limitedly in the playoffs to catch teams off-guard for some runs in the game. I remember zones being extremely useful against the triangle in the playoffs in the past, because teams who run triangle run it 100% of the time, and its a man-def set, less effective against a zone.

The fact that we're even winning is pretty remarkable tbh, given the cir stances.. And you're setting yourself up for a pretty big letdown if you're expecting us to win this one, tbh.

Eh likely just a combination of trying to get a feel for Rondo and playing down to the compe ion, tbh.

What examples of postseason play that had a zone defense vs triangle offense are you referencing here?

mavs announcers calling out the Spurs for flopping
2 worst flops tonight have been Rondo and Parsons, but that does not get mentioned by the sub-par Dallas announcers.

Ellis will volume shoot in the second half.

The Spurs will struggle to score.

It'll be tough to win. The Mavericks did not take this game seriously enough so far.
