and after the mirage of Latavius Murray last week, we returned to our historically poor ground game.... 21 carries for 61 yards
det poise, det pocket presence
best qb in the class![]()
Raiders aren't good at this tanking stuff. Now they are tied with four other teams.
they're not trying to tank. they're just not a great football team. i actually think they'd be better served winning out than losing out (obviously they wont win out, still play denver).
even with Carr and Mack looking like cornerstones, right now there is still a "stink" on the raiders organization. coaches aren't lining up to come here, free agents actively avoid them. its a sense of "if i go there, i'll waste my prime and kill my career." even if we lose out and get the #1 pick, that's not going to change the perspective. FA's will see a 2-14 team that is looking for a new coach and will try to avoid it.
but if we win some more games to close the year, we might have the image of an up and coming team with a franchise QB in place. i do think momentum can carry over from the end of a season too.
don't get me wrong, the idea of getting a top pick is great... i think Leonard Williams would be a picture perfect fit for our team, and i'd be thrilled if we traded back a Mariota pick, but thats a consolation prize, not something any team should be gunning for, imo
Khalil Mack is a ing monster, and Derek Carr looks like he'll be starting here for a while

They haven't been fully Raidered yet... give it time.
even you gotta say you've been impressed so far
3-12 and swept by the Chargers... not impressed. Carr did throw a nice game-winning pass to Verrett, though.![]()
pulling guard rams into him with all the momentum, can't even knock him a step back

double teamed and still able to paw at the RB with his off arm

and then on the next play to force a punt... https://vine.co/v/OXHFFKIhhpV
He's one of the best defensive players I've ever seen on the raiders, good to have a first round pick that wasn't a bust

Mack's run grade of +45.7 is unreal. The next closest 4-3 OLB has a +18.4 (Per PFF). Wow pic.twitter.com/Nmm3BZga3n

easily the best draft of 2014![]()
we're most likely ending up at #5 again. assuming ans/bucs both grab QB's and the Jags grab an OT, leonard williams could fall to us... that would be nice. amari cooper otherwise
we are getting leonard williams, we arent gonna take an RT with the 3rd pick![]()
gotta protect Blake the future Bortles
he's been getting clobbered this year tbh
forreal has been the most sacked qb this season sans kraep
but there are better value in the later rounds for an RT
I can see amari cooper as a future pro bowl type WR....that would be a great pickup for da raiders.
I've seen a lot of people on this site and "the experts" on TV saying that TB will not go QB with the 1st pick.
Me....I can't see any other pick other than marcus mariota making any sense. We need a QB that bad. McCown and Glennon are not the answer. We play in the worst division of all time and yet we can't get one divisional win....smh.
Chiefs took Fisher #1 overall when they still had Albert at LT... Jags could be having second thoughts about Joeckel tbh
if i remember correctly albert wanted to get paid top dollar, same thing when the jags took joeckel and they had monroe. the situation is different this time, joeckel will get another year because it was essentially his rookie year this season.
leonard williams would pair up with sendrick marks and recreate the henderson and stroud days![]()
![]()
but if for some reason leonard slides to the raiders, wow reggie mackenzie is gonna be mayor of oakland![]()
i think the rg3 effect will not make the decision any easier but QB should be the pick. who is gonna be your OC?
williams would fit so damn well because he can play end or tackle, and our D shuffles around between a 3-4 and 4-3... and we need another playmaker up front to free up Mack and Sio Moore. we'd absolutely need to get a WR in free agency or in round 2 if that's the route though
I heard they might bring back Jeff Tedford if his health problems get better. Then again...they might clean house. I don't even know if Lovie survives this year....
Honestly, I don't have a clue to what they're gonna do.
Charles Woodson re-upped for another year. he's inconsistent but can still hold the position down. probably will be his last year
What would have happened with the Raiders if they had drafted Calvin Johnson over Jamarcus Russell in 2007? And say signed a veteran like Jeff Garcia?
If you look back at our first round picks in the 2000's... you can see exactly why we've been a joke
2000 - Janikowski (K)
2001 - Derrick Gibson (FS)
2002 - Napoleon Harris (MLB) and Philip Buchanon (CB)
2003 - Tyler Brayton (DE) and Nnamdi Asomugha (CB)
2004 - Robert Gallery (LT)
2005 - Fabian Washington (CB)
2006 - Michael Huff (FS)
2007 - JaMarcus Russell (QB)
2008 - Darren McFadden (RB)
2009 - Darrius Heyward-Bey (WR)
2010 - Rolando McClain (MLB)
2011 - Traded pick for Richard Seymour
2012 - Traded pick for Carson Palmer
2013 - D.J. Hayden (CB)
jury is still out on Hayden, butat that list. outside of Nnamdi, nobody there returned first round value.
