If Elba is capable to play a mythological character inspired by Vikings (you cannot whitter than vikings tbh), he is capable to play Bond.
I haven't given a about bond since casino royale, so they can do whatever they want.
Its not important to him as long as whites aren't the ones getting the shaft. Where was the outrage over white actor playing Jesus (and not to mention Mary)--that's just one example. Another one is Argo--the lead's real name was Antonio Mendez, a mexican-American. Lol Ben Affleck gets to play him. And these are REAL people. Way worse than changing a fictionalized story.
Personally, I don't think the casting of him will be anywhere near as controversial as who and what race will play the Bond girl. There are not many movies with interracial lovers (more specifically with black male and white female), the few that do are probably under the radar.
