A player explaining his role in the offense, compared to a player making a hyperbolic statement about his ability?

Wilson is probably a top 5ish QB IMO, but I'm just saying, his role is to be a game manager that can take over a game, at times..

well yeah, even as one of his biggest fans on this site, i've said many times this seattle offense isn't built to have any QB throw the ball 35-40 times in a game. i don't know about top 5 though, i think he's somewhere in the 6-10 range.

some people use game manager to describe the role on a team (like when you yourself called Manning a game manager towards the end of the season), others (most on this site, imo) use it as a label to say the QB has limited ability.

Like in basketball, I'll take a Danny Green over a more talented player like Chandler Parsons/Jeff Green, because of role recognition/self-awareness..

Wilson recognizes his role and accepts it, which is a talent in itself IMO..he doesn't give a if they run 30 times, nor does he complain about his weapons, so I don't think labeling him as a game manager is an insult, at all..there are many QBs in the NFL that probably wouldn't accept running Seattle's scheme and their conservative approach..

it pretty much means a qb that do not take risks, and it describes wilson perfectly. Now for why does he not take them (note, he never makes passes in tight spaces) we can only speculate since he does not need to take them, but there have been plenty of occasion where he had to face great defenses and he sucked throwing the ball.
